Quote: So, the roleplay of these Zoner factions relies so very much on capital ships that have no logical reason to exist that your entire roleplay background would become null and void should these ships cease to have capital-class weapons and armor?
This sums up the argument nicely, imo.
I'll try to put myself in the same sort of situation, so to speak.
Let's say the devs decided that Gateway Shipping, for whatever reason, no longer should have access to 5k transports.
Would this suck? Yes. Would this affect our ability to ship and transport goods? Yes. Would this affect our RP? A bit...as we'd have to be more careful about what kind of jobs we take. Would this completely ruin the year of work we've put into the faction and make it pointless for Gateway to even exist? NO! Not at all. We would adapt...and use different ships to suit our RP. Simple as that.
And those Zoner players keep complaining that they're going to be somehow helpless without a BS...you seem to keep forgetting that you DO have other warships, including 2 of the best Gunboats in the game, and a new light bomber by the sound of it.
So you know what happens when that oh so horrible Corsair BS or Marduk shows up? You break out the GBs and bombers and kill it. Easy as that. I'm sorry if you somehow will miss the satisfaction of just riding high on your Nephilim and laughing at the puny others who would dare to challenge you.
How many times have you seen a Nephilim blowing you up?Not without you shooting it.So to be fair,if the same was done to other factions, with some or the other justification(as you have come up with the populace),they would QQ as much as we do.Why bother when it is all fine this way. They are not a harm to any of you out there, bragging here.If at all they are, then you can report them for shooting without being provoked.Take a good look at Liberty.
The Zoners in no way are breaking rules with Nephilims,as compared to the number of sanctions that I can see everyday for the Liberty cap saga.If at all you want to do good to theserver RP,restrict Liberty caps, and it will reduce the chaos in there, which in turn destroys activity in there too.
So,a change of this type is not welcome by a huge part of the community, who actually are affected by this. And those of you,who are not affected in any way,why bother and support the nerf?
As you have pointed out yourself that you are new to the server, Sathish, I"m assuming you're unaware of the LARGE and DOCUMENTED problems and complaints people have had with Zoners on this server (ZonerZonerZoner is there for a reason).
So, for you to say that Liberty is the problem and Zoners are fine is just plain ignorance.
If anything....it at least makes PERFECT sense for Liberty Navy players to have a Battleship, considering they are a MILITARY and COMBAT-oriented faction. Brets, Rheinlanders, and Kusari got BSes too...don't see so many problems there. Liberty just naturally gets attention because it's where everyone starts, and where everyone needs to learn the ropes. Don't make Liberty your straw man argument.
in existance maybe, but never really simultaneously. if you can afford to ignore the fact that someone you're shooting at died 2 hours earlier then you can probably ignore the fact that this aquilon you see is not the only one or two of it's kind.
Then it all breaks down to the lore problems again.Lore wise,as I said loopholes can be found in each lore.Since nobody is perfect,as it is with the person who would have written the lore.If only I could sit and study all the lores of factions,I can point out a lot of holes, unexplained ingame theories and so on.This ultimately makes the game no more fun and reduces activity.
Simple,if people want to see a thing fade away just because they have had some bad encounter with it,nobody can stop them from reasoning. It applies everywhere,I exactly dont know how you people developed so much hate towards the Nephs and the Zoners in general, that it has grown to this point.
Never would anyone like to bow out of an argument, its human nature. The same things are seen here.Neither do I want to bow out,as I have my reasons for this. You can talk lore all day long, but in the cost of server activity. If you all need so,I will show the true reason for people playing this game, and many good people leaving this game.
And dont think I dont know anything about the in game proceedings as I am new.I have been playing FL for 8 years and Disco for 6 years albeit not in the server.I make up for that,by reading all the old stuff that has went on through this.I go through the profiles of retired players, their posts in the comms, the events and so many innumerable things in this forums.I am not that illeterate about this mod as you think.I know something, atleast a part of what you all know. And I can reason with that something.

Now you catched my interest. Not related to the Zoner-topic.
So many people here talking about zoner RP that in fact has no idea about what zoners are, that makes me sad.
Whatever. I think the best 'compromise' would be leave the caps for the officials as SRP. This way you clean up the huge numbers of lolwut caps and dont invalidate the factions years-long RP.
Anyone agrees with that? Dirk suggested the same, so I know at least he does...

Zoner players seem to think they are part of this mysterious group that NO ONE outside the group can possibly comprehend...and it's honestly a silly argument. Jinx certainly WAS heavily involved as a Zoner...and I'm sure the devs/admins have played and even probably written some of their lore anyways. Quit trying to make yourself sound so bloody special.
This whole issue is about making Zoners what they were always supposed to be...which was NOT a group that was meant to build and maintain a large cap fleet.
I would repeat what I said earlier....if a Zoner group's RP is so fragile that losing a BS makes their existence worthless....is such a group even worth having around?

Well, a lot of us suggested this, but it was turned down because it wouldn't be fair to the indies, brides elitism, etc.
On a side note, removing them completely will be bad for them as well, but it doesn't matter as I see.

Keep in mind that most of the caps were caused by indies unaffiliated with official factions just trying to have some fun. It's like Liberty may be wealthy, but if you count all the LNS caps in existence then it's still way more than they are in-rply "supposed" to have and maintain.
I think this is one of the parts of the games where you have to relax on your "logic" and allow people with existing RP to continue their RP (if they want to), as well as allow people who want to have zoner caps to have one, as long as they abide by the server rules.
edit: also, I prefer SRP caps over turning them into transports. A battletrans (which has to be balanced) no matter how powerful is still a big fat paper target to any half-functional military ship. You want to talk about RP and logic, no sane person would build a bs sized transport and used it in areas where it will easily be destroyed by virtually everybody, even if they supposedly have allies nearby.
