Directing trader activity towards lanes - attn all devs

But may be around 1% or 2% people will be using those Jump holes and only in case, they find a known pirate already in the system before entering it. Other than that, why would people need to cut their time out without taking lanes.

Using bases was one of the suggested methods. Already proposed speed buff from 90 to 200-250 m/s, that'd let 5kers come to the fields in a reasonable matter of time. If you really want to have 350 m/s speed, just use battletransport.

Btw there's no need to be rude because it'd be a bit harder to supply Seasons base.

Yeah sure, I bet, devs also did not believed, that many change they adding in Disco FL can actualy harm. Player's count says oposite.

Big traders would use lanes more often instead of having alternative to avoid pirates by using holes, problems with buffer systems would be gone as Order| leader noticed, activity would be boosted.


Honestly, why would it be SO BIG harm if Stork had 250 m/s cruise speed?

Pretty much yeah. Because you are forgetting, that lanes are being disrupted in regular systems, and decreasing speeed by huge margin, will make 5k a poor choice for trader.

Besides, people who cruise off the plane, will continue to do so, because they are usually alt+tab and do some interesting stuff. I know I do it, all the time, even when using lanes. Sometimes I will even select the gate I need to go and cruise 100k towards it while watching that new TV series that just started. Doesn't matter if it takes me ~20% more to reach destination, since I will not be actually wasting time.

Your idea is flawed, because you understand why people have done that in the PAST. But current server activity doesn't even give benefit of wasting time to go off plane and cruise, because, let's be honest, how many are there actual pirates remaining? Very few. You can see whole NY pirate gang being more interested in PvPing with LNS, than actually pirating.

Obviously, what else. A waypoint away from the tradelanes will take you 23 seconds more, you just can't do this pain to traders. Nevermind the buffer systems that add you minutes in useless and uneventful travel time to your trading. /s

Even when taking the disruptions into account, the difference in time is even less. On an average route I usually fly with a battletransport, you get roughly four disruptions. Considering the space between one lane ring and the next, this adds up to about a minute delay.
I think when you can spend 30 minutes or an hour flying from A to B, one minute more or less doesn't really make a difference if you're not hypersensitive to the issue. If you like taking the faster way, you can always have battletransports that travel at regular speed with reduced cargo hold. It creates a viable choice for traders instead of just defaulting to the 5ker at the moment.
