IMG spoonfeeding Bretonia an alternative? When? Two weeks after the mutual declaration of hostilities? Congratulations, next time try proposing alternatives before a war breaks out.
And to everyone pointing out the discrepancies between Shooter's and Dartes' story regarding the Olympia and the implemented storyline development, did none of you care enough to check that Shooter began writing the story thread almost two days after filing the canonization request?

Their ships now have a very long route to take to get fixed during which they'll no doubt get ambushed by multiple people. Expansion into the Omega's during a losing war is not a winning strategy in my book, admitively, that's my opinion and I'm by no means a tactician, but fighting on multiple fronts when you're already losing and alienating several factions that could've helped you in the proces against Galia seems like a bad move.
I think the root of this all is Bretonia losing Southampton which was also a forced development. As much as I was hoping it wouldn't be the case, I predicted this outcome because Bretonia was owed a shipyard basically. This is just the apex of a series of rail-roaded story developments and plot progression. I think that's why Bretonia had no real reason to accept those proposals - they knew they were going to be getting Aland anyway (although, imo if IMG said they were willing to give up Cardiff and upgrade it into a shipyard, I can't see how that'd be better and faster than giving the same treatment to Aland).

I thought at the time that Southampton should have had its modules taken off and strapped to a station in Poole.

As BAF HC I can say that the way the station capture unfolded was certainly not us making our own story, and any accusations of "Devtonia" where somehow Bretonia controls the story is quite ludicrous. I and the most of the HC were just as surprised by the Olympia info-card, and to be honest, i'm not 100% satisfied with the content. Contrary to what people are writing here, I think the story team has pandered to too many factions in this outcome, which has created a bit of a mess of a story development.
The story could have as easily said that the IMG surrendered upon the Norfolk reaching the shipyard, and all their defense ships retreat out of O3, ignoring the questionable stance of the IMG to destroy their own base for no other reason than to spite Bretonia.
Also, as has been pointed out, why are we in this position to begin with? If we controlled the story, Gallia would be defeated already, and even if we masochistically decided to let the story blow up our shipyard, don't you think we'd magic up a shipyard instead of go through all this headache? I can guarantee you, we are in the exact same boat as every other player and faction when it comes to story development.
