Well, I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place, but seeing as how its more of a gathering than a faction... Yeah... I think this is right. I've noticed that there have been a couple of freelance "Nomad Researchers" but none of them actually do much of anything 'cept float about and do as they will.
So I was wondering if anybody would be interested in starting a group or something of people who research Nomads and actually... Well... Do something? Like post on the forums with their findings while disecting a brain or some such. I myself have one of said 'freelance Nomad Researchers' and its rather lonely not being able to post much of anywhere or have anybody to post with. Prof. Hasley (Or however its spelt) is the closest thing anybody has done to actually being serious about it. Unit started a Nomad Anatomy/Physiology thread that died after a while... But again, its all freelance work.
Perhaps there could be a message dump and these people who are interested might get together in-game and... Everybody is doing Merc work or camping home planets saying, "HALT! *scan*... Okay... You're clear." ... ... Six hours later, they log out once boredome begins to effect them. (Would it be effect or affect? In this instance I'm not sure.)
Call me crazy, but it seems to me that this might have some largely un-tapped potential of funness. Anybody? Thoughts? So far the only ones I know about are Hasley, Unit, and myself. And again, this isn't a faction suggestion... Just a gathering of people with something in common... So. Anybody? Thoughts?... ... Wait... Already been there.

I don't see this getting shot down, quite a unique idea. If theres other people out there that would get fun from this then fair play, not my cup of tea though.
Well, dont be so self negative... wait... Nearly everything ive suggested ive ended with "im sure this will get shot down faster than *insert instance here*" So... yea:D
That asside, My current research story is almost to the point of publishing the "findings" that i proposed to the community for a rehash. Some suggestions were added, some... well the nomads are nomads.
It seemed to die off due to lack of suggested things to change, so i'll find it again, and polish it up for RP publication. For the purpose of making things interesting to read, and not just pouring over a microscope my squishy story is just the events leading it along, that i mostly did in game.
Being in a different timezone and sleeping schedule makes some people so hard to find only by searching ingame:D
Anyways, if a nomad research dump were to be made in the roleplaying section, i would post in it with Alice. She needs someone to help pull her head out of the ship she has been studying when she shoves it down nomad throat;)

Well, yes, they do fight with them, but were also the first I believe to do study on them. They certainly got equipment for that.
But yea, independent researchers or teams can do very well, Tannik Seldon for example. Teams, for example, can be sent from Cambridge or some other party interested in. So yes, it can work. Good luck...
@Vape: Not likely. It would have to be explicitly allowed by the admins (they have the ID's and would have to change the reps), and would have to consist of only well-respected excellent RPers. Basically, dont hold your breath.

Sooo... Maybe we could get Hasley to come in? *cough wink nudge spatter* Along with some other people. I don't really want two people occupying a dump. It'd seem pretty senseless to start one then. I've already made my ship in a to-be-unnamed lego-type game.:P
It looks pretty cool. It's a two-room Spatial, discluding the hallway that leads to the cockpit. I'd like someplace to post pictorals... It makes the experience seem more real than just text RP.:DBut again... It'd be senseless to start a two-person dump.

CRI = Cambridge Research Institute. Researches Nomads, converts their weaponry to be used on human ships, and they enforce, with help from the houses, a nomad transportation ban.
