Maybe people who are very concerned about things should start to go out of their way to make it fun for others.
I realized a few days ago that I was being super paranoid about getting killed. Then I said to myself, "So what?"
Nothing happens when you die. Nothing at all.
I had a similar mindset when I started playing about paying tax. Death before taxes. LOL. Thats just dumb. After I started to see people get upset and sad when people did not pay tax, I started paying it.
I've been seeing folks get upset about LSF being to powerful. heh. For the last 2 days I've been trying to find folks to kill my LSF character..cause it will make some people happy.
So I guess I'm trying to say. Have fun. Try and make it fun for others to. A big reason I've been on raids to gamma as my corsair. Don't Outcasts enjoy opportunities to kill Corsairs? Both times we have gone there were 6 Outcasts in Alpha..least at the start of our trip.
Also, it would be nice if opposing factions were just plain nice to each other ooc. Talk and figure out what stuff you would both like to see happen for fun. We should all be friends here. How boring it would be if their were only Corsairs in Sirus. Or worse..only LSF...ouch..be nothing at all to do. Cept eat donuts and drink coffee.
@ RickJames: Sir, you have taken the first and only step possible in this situation.. you have recognized and vowed to control your own fears. By doing so, you have acknowledged that Chaos exists, but that it is a natural condition, and does not require an increase in Order to compensate. You are hereby promoted to Tsar.
@ Carlos Benitez: Aye. This "Fear Factor" ploy has been used by Illuminati types since they entered the world game ages ago. By exaggerating (escalating) the amount of Chaos in our lives, they cause a condition of chronic angst and fear, which allows them to erode our individual liberties to "protect us". (Imposition of Order.) Again, the only defense against this is to be as informed as possible, and to examine your own fears to see if they are being manipulated and/or generated externally and artificially. You are hereby promoted to Messiah.
@P Funk. Quit suckin' up. You're alread a Tsar, boy.
@Myself: Mal, you pedantic poot. You forget your own sermons as often as you remember them. Take out the beam in thine own eye. And, have fun, you old fart! (Oh, and you're demoted to Pope for a period of two weeks!)
@Admins: You got a tough job, folk. But, I am confident that you are handling this little wobble in the Chao with thought and moderation. You are all honorary Tsars in the TAZ's book. Kallisti!
OK this is difficult to say but as things stand Disco is full of whining "quote rules or I report you players" It is very sad. I cannot say it enough, simple child-proof rules. Anyone that start quoting rules in system should be killed by all. How dare you break RP to critise others! I have several players in mind when I say this.. Spend less time crying a river and more Role-playing instead of braeking RP to insult anothers RP and threatening them with a sanction.
I myself had a player threaten me with a reoprt not long ago for sheild running! The player in the midst of battle broke RP to argue with me and I disagreed with him. I challanged him to make his report and it did not happen because there was no violation. This palyer was just trying to bend a PVP rule to suit him on a RP server. Disco is full of angry young men who throw tantrums at their keyboard and that is sadly why we have a problem with this community.
The player I refer to I have come across several times and every time it has been a whine fest. You know who you are!
Heh, I get your point Spear. I hate to break RP to quote rules.
My anecdote: The other day I was building a character, a smuggler for BLS. Well I was flying out to get the Pirate Transport. Along the way I was intercepted by a Liberty police guy and he was waiting for me to launch into space from a Liberty Rogue base. Rather than break RP to say "Im creating a char" I played it out and said I was a Trader flying a Starflier and that I'm no threat to anyone, despite my freinds (affiliation of Outcast).
So I managed to get through that without breaking RP even though I could have.
Ok...this may have already been said, but I don't have time to read an ocean of text. Im probably going to get flamed again and again for the rest of my life and beyond my grave, and I wouldn't be surprised if I got sanctioned either. But here goes...Time to umm, what a good way to say it? Oh I know Planet Dive!
First of all...Yea its a game! "Oh! I got slaughtered!" Some players think its the end of the world. Some people laugh their heads off, re-spawn enjoy the game, and say "Good shot" or "nice fight"
Second, About the rule breakers. Yea sure, they should read the rules. there is a copy on every planet I have been to. But people, we have players on the server that are 7 years old! When I was ten, the above paragraph was considered to be a wall of text to me. Do you think they are going to read a wall of text of server rules? Yea, people go around nicely and say hey...bro "you need to change your ID:)" And they say "Sure ill do it now" or "I don't have enough money." This is often the case, and a lot of people don't know it! I give them a copy of the server rules, and say its important. then give them a mill or two so they can get their ID or w/e they need, then we can get on with our lives. There are others that hit the Print Screen button as soon as they can and then report them ASAP. This is dumb, and brings me to my next point.
Point two, I apologies if this comes across as negative in some way, or as if i am flaming the administrators, but it needs to be said. And I think alot of people are thinking this too, but are afraid to say it for this exact reason. Here goes....The admins are too hard on the newbies. Often its just an egg who print screens a so called rule violation, and then the admins sanction immediately. No questions asked. But wait! Theres more! Do you ever see the WARNING commodity used anymore? I don't....And if it is still used well, again I apologies. But most of the damn posts on the rule violations are SANCTIONS or PRISONERS. ie: nub just over level 49...lets say 50. He doesn't even know he has gone over rank. He has just got his new fighter, a little scratch and some nice new guns and a cargo hold of pilots he shot down where ever....Then an idiot comes along and screens it as soon as the bay is scanned...Then it goes across to the admins, and they get picked on straight away! Its as if the admins take it personally! Seriously, its not a who can sanction the most in the shortest amount of time...Not that this has anything to do with the price of fish...But its happened in my country in real life! Police officers gambling over who will catch the most idiots speeding, drinking, driving and parking incorrectly. Seeing how many they can get in a month...and threatened by their chief that if they don't fine enough drivers, they loose their wings and get sacked. Back on the track....here is my take:
Noob001
Rule violation: 6.0.007.901.2 of section 8,296,432,234. Civilian ID on level 50 player!
All weapons gone!
All credit gone!
All cargo gone!
Sent to Prison for 700 million days!
All hope of still using that character gone!
Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars! Thats credit stacking!!!
Sorry people but in my opinion...thats not how it should be done. Endo story.
Bottom Line: Try warning once or twice, then hit as hard as you jolly like. Just my opinion, and a friendly suggestion...Again admins...not directed at anyone special, you do your jobs like pro's but, your turning the game into real life punishing so hard.
Rant terminated

Agree with most here, Yes its a game but games are supposed to be fun right? When people Quote rules or break them it kinda ruins the fun.
I hvae been told off many times (even by some LSF members) that i take the game too seriously.. Well for one I love to roleplay even though im not that good at it, Second, When your trying to RP ( like in system chat) You see someone OOC chatting. Now sometimes when i see this i try to PM the person that they should only talk ooc in private chat and to read the rules because they are very strict. I also hate that every 10 seconds someone is hitting report button. Now i was recently reported for being OORP and reengaging in Connecticut. Did i know RP was needed in Conn? or that the same pvp rules apply in Conn.? no i didnt, yes the person that reported told me i was being oorp and i got argumentative but still shouldn't of meant to be reported.( not trying to complain here) This is just my 2 cents. Sorry for rambling
You have to remember that intent matters here guys.
Some people like yourself, sn!p3r, break rules by accident. Others do it intentionally. The admins have to assume it was intentional in order to maintain fairness... and intentionally breaking the rules is a very bad thing, right?
We all make mistakes at some point (I thought the same about Connecticut, actually). We've even had Tony sanction himself for making a mistake before, losing all the guns on his destroyer, I believe.
One thing that really bugs me is that the Sanction process is completely closed. You report, you hearsay, case closed. There isn't any attempt to allow the person to defend himself. In many cases this isn't requierd but in others its very ambiguous and there is still a 'case closed' type of attitude about it.
Example: Sniper's sanction. He rightfully asks to see the evidence levelled against him since he doesn't understand why he has been slammed. And frankly Tony's answer was very dismissive and challenging, suggseting basically that if you feel wronged by admin you are liable to get slammed even worse.
Its not encouraging to see your character get razed and to feel that you can't even argue it. I have personal experience with this too myself.
