Everything you said is true. Both players and admins need to use common sense when dealing with the rules.
Problem is that we still have to clear many definitions that are present in the current rules. Relying on subjective decisions might work, but for a large community like current Discovery it's better to have a set of pre-defined regulations that actually work, and can be enforced by admins.
Of course, leaving enough freedom for admins to choose what to do, and enough freedom for players to play int he way that they enjoy most.
There have been some high profile leavers that have raised a few tears within the community, and though I didn't know most of them (being fairly new to all this myself), it's good to see some newer people are going to be filling the holes.
