Santiago:*turns to Sombrero* I've never heard of you as well, but the imperial fleet is big, that doesn0t mean much, does it? But yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the Elders were involved. I told you that I vouched for peace with the Zoners... how do you think they reacted? But it's not just that. I always refused to take part in acts of piracy. I disapprove theft, and assaulting harmless civilians; the Corsair Empire is well beyond the point when such activities were needed for its survival. But again, the Elders didn't like having around someone reminding to the young ones that a corsair's life is not necessarily a pirate's life. *shrugs* When I left the imperial fleet, I guess they were just too relieved to see me go away to actually bother trying to make me stay.
*Sombrero nods while looking into her eyes* I agree with the part of piracy. I never participated in any action like this before too. There are just better ways to gain recources. And the elders...*he shakes his head*...I don't even want to talk about them. They would even shoot their own people if other Corsairs are saying something which doesn't fit to the opinion of one single Elder....one of the reason I left the empire. We are always delivered to the whims of council members. Somethint that cannot be, in my opinion. They even killed my whole family...*he looks around while taking a deep breath*
Santiago:*puts a hand on Sombrero's shoulder* Then we will be your new family, agent. Don't allow your past to be a burden on your shoulders; we have a work to do here. Remember the dead, but fight for the living.
Admiral Golanski was looking at whole incident from distance, listening to every single word that was said here. Appears that TCG did not recognized him as they have not met in person yet. 'Bunch of morons. Most of Corsairs behave better than them' he thought. Blaster was ready to draw, better to intervene than sorry. He turned to Santiago 'By people like them this place gets worse'.
*Sombrero nods* Alright...but I cannot say for sure if I will have the same feeling like there, at Crete. I think the only think which matters is time to get used to something. I will do my best. *he smiles at Santiago*
Welcome home, to anyone else it is hell. You will get used to it. Proud and arrogance have line between and some cross it on way of corruption. Look at them, even I have doubts whether we should save such individuals. But we fight regardless for better tommorow, no matter what the cost. Sometimes end justify the means. Stay away from them Sombrero, their leader is dangerous man with little respect to even his own people.
*nods* You are right Admiral. Even such fools will be be protected. Even if they don't know how to form their life to help others. One day...one day humanity will be splitted again through such agressive and... well you know. I am happy to be no longer a Corsair, somehow. But it is the right way, i am sure about it.
You will be always 'Corsair'. Your heritage is given, it won't dissapear no matter how strong you try. Whether you agree or not with your elders is your personal choice and opinion. Not everyone will be satisfied that's why you are here doing what you think is right. And when I said heritage I mean your nation and family, not politics and leaders dividing them.
I think the opinion of other people about me isn't important. The only thing which counts is that the task, to protect humanity from alien threats, have to be done. Now that I am no longer a Corsair I am willing to do everything which is necessary to keep the real important things. So I do not care what others are thinking about my origin or my heritage. I can't change it anyway.
But if guys like Bernas or whatever his name was are provocating it too much, I am loosing my inhibition to show him how serious the situation is. Their leader....well, if they want they should come. I have seen a lot of people who said they're dangerous. At least they weren't even harmful.
'There is no shame in coming from Corsairs. Only ignorants make opinion on your heritage. Remember when you wanted to defect? I tested you and gave you a chance which you used well. About TCG, their leader is Barnes you just met, surprise isn't it? In past one of my precedessors fleet admiral Osborne declared he wants Barnes head. And I never heard that stance was reversed, I was keeping eye on them since times they formed and I will keep doing that. My trust is reserved for a VERY few special people who proved themselves, and it is good tradition of my family that served us well.'
