Doc could tell that Chris wanted some seclusion and he respected that.
"Come with me," he said softly and escorted him to the same conference room he had just been in with Anna. There, the two spoke, Doc offering a handshake to someone he considered a friend.
Doc sighed, his anguish of his wife's suffering hurting a bit.
"Midori is in intensive care," he explained, "how long she will be there I don't know. At sixth months of pregnancy with twins, she hemorraged and is now comatose. Both the twins are alive but will be in incubation for some time."
Doc sighed again, cracking just a little, "I can't even hold my two new children."
He then pulled himself together, "So, per agreement with the staff here, Midori and the kids are my family right now and NOT my patients."
He stopped himself, not mentioning the argument they had had before she collapsed.
"Doreen," he began, a smile of pride crossing his face, "she is now Dr. Nagger. She's grown up a lot and she has found Canaria to be her home and place of work. I think you will be impressed with the woman she has become. Professional, confident and pretty only scratch the surface. In fact, she's in surgery right now so I can't bother her. Her picture is on the entry way of the hospital with the rest of the staff."
He looked at his old friend, "Chris, you do not have to conceal yourself here. You are amongst friends."
He paused a moment, "but something tells me that you're here for more than getting re-acquainted."

In The O.R.:
Dr. Nagger was a couple of hours into surgery with Samantha and it only seemed to get more difficult by the minute. The team had trouble enough just getting her stabilized let alone addressing the miriad of injuries.
One problem they had was the onset of gang green in her right leg after the flesh had basically been burned off just below the hip leaving the bone exposed and broken. The long trip from where she came combined with the fact that her escape pod was shot up and decompressed and no medical care in the travel left a lot of room for infection.
After several failed attempts to save the leg, the order was given to amputate what was left. Still, the many internal injuries remained and severely burned flesh made it a very daunting task to get to them. The burns were of the 3rd degree variety and much of her flight suit was cooked to the flesh. It would be by far Doreen's biggest challenge of her young career.
Samantha's lungs were spared, having suffered damage from decompression. Other organs wouldn't be so lucky. Her spleen was ruptured and therefore removed. Her right kidney was severely bruised and just about every other one required at least one suture. Even after this emergency surgery was completed, her road to recovery would be long. Luck was already on her side in one way though....she was still alive.
Dangen nodded as he drew the hood back, the blond hair had been dyed recently in-fact just a few hours ago so that he'd be able to move around without a fuss. He presented a cloth from a pocket of his jeans starting to rub off the mask of chemicals that were starting to irritate his skin. "Acutally Doc, the only business I had should have contacted you, Anna.. other then that I am here to get re-acquainted, your my friend not a business partner."He crooked a smile at Doc as he peered off to the side.
"I already saw the picture and you and I both know she was going to be successful in life, that's why I've had to stay away and no offense to you or her, but I hate doctors they were never my /Friends/ if you get my drift... Cept one nurse."He'd shake his head. "Any way you know why, Right now I am known as Lucifer Morningstar... Angel of the Reapers of Sirius." He let out a hefty sigh."Bretonia armed forces, once ordered me to kill someone... I refused, as way of punishment... well lets just say I got new scars and two week cool down in solitary room." His fists clenched and unclenched slowly."I left and joined the Reapers after that." He'd give a shrug.
He'd rub the side of his neck muscles roughly for a moment of thought seeming to be lost for a while in his thoughts. "When you can go see her, your wife.. some times people can hear you when in a com, speak with experience there.... any way..... What have you been up to?"

Doc just smiled, "Chris, it's good to see you again. I hadn't heard anything of you for so long that I feared you were dead or something. I thank Eris that you weren't."
"And remember this," he added, "this is one doctor that is your friend as is that young lady who's picture you saw on the wall. Everyone needs a doctor now and then.....everyone."
He then took a re-assuring tone with him, "I don't care who you work for or what you've done, you proved your friendship to me. I don't turn my back on friends." He then grumbled to himself as a moment of ire passed him, "..unlike some Gallic princesses do."
"Listen, if I can help you, let me know. I owe you that."
He then looked around, "If you want, I'll take you to see Midori. We'll just have to do it during visiting hours since she's not actually my patient."
He smirks in a cocky manner at Doc at the mention of him possabily dying."Doc you know better to assume me dead, and yes she is my friend but I do not need a doctor, bad history with them, If I cant apply the help to my self then my sister will do in terms of help or Doreen or you but other then that I'd rather bleed out, if I have the strength to fight that's what I'd do, thats how much I hate doctors."
He sighs and hoping that Doc would understand that."Yes I would like to visit Midori, its been a long while since I saw her, Believe it was back at your estate but don't know how long ago." He rubs the side of his neck in an uneasy manner while looking at the door, no matter where he was it was evidant he remained paranoid and on-guard. "And probably our red headed friend too, I'd like to see how Ben is going as well as her, she probably thinks I died."He shruged and smiled. "Be a surprise for her."
Time passed while Sol sit on the bench burried under the heavy thoughts, the sun was about to set after a long bright day. Leaves of the trees were singing a relaxing melody as the wind got faster and colder. There was no sound except that, at least for Sol.
He didn't realize the girl sitting next to him for a long time. Finally, she shyly pulled the torn up cape resting on Sol's left shoulder to get his attention. When he turned his head to see who that was, surprised, he saw the same little girl who was selling flowers this morning. This time she was not smiling, she was staring at him, looking concerned.
"Mister, weren't you going to the CMC?" she said, her concerned stare still fixated on Sol's face.
Sol didn't know how to answer to that... So he just shook his head and looked to the ground in front of him. "Hmm... Are you sick? You look sick... I will help you get there! Come on!" she held her arm and started to pull Sol trying to get him up. Sol got up... she was strong... strangely. "Oy... Oy there... Stop... gosh..." Sol tried to get his arm free of her. He realized now that the cardamine in his breather was long gone, he was feeling very weak as he got up. He found another capsule in his pocket, one of the remaining few, and inserted it to the breather as the girl was looking and wondering on what he's doing. "O~Kay! Off we go!" smiling, she pulled his arm even stronger now, running towards the CMC. "H-hey..." she ignored Sol's protests as she was dragging him.
They were looking rather funny as they passed by the moderately crowded streets of Gran Canaria, many people turned their heads to see what was going on. Lights on the stores were already on as the big buildings blocked the dimmed sunlight, and the streets were dark. Soon they reached the place, they stopped before the majestic stairs leading to the CMC, they were a bit intimidating for now weakened Sol who could barely stay on foot.
The girl looked at him and smiled. "Mister! Here we are..." she looked around, and as if she realized that the street lights were on just now "Oh! I must be off, it's getting late! They will be worried!"
Rushed off once again to the direction where they came from, she turned back after a while and shouted happily "Take care mister, get well soon!"
Sol couldn't help but laugh as he sized the giant stairway, "Heh... she's gone just when I needed her... holy damned spirits."

Quietly, Doc just escorted Chris to the room where Midori lay resting. The attending nurse was a bit nervous with the stranger but since Doc was escorting him, she said nothing of it.
"How is she?" Doc asked of her.
"No change," she answered.
Doc just clenched his lips together and nodded.
"We'll just be a minute," he said, "and yes, I know, she's not my patient."
The nurse just smiled and left the two men to their business.
Doc picked up her chart. Her vitals remained steady and the hemorrhaging was healing but she still remained asleep.
"We argued the night before," Doc explained dejectedly, "I feel responsible. She felt I spend too much time playing peacemaker." He sighed and hung his head, "maybe she's right. No, she IS right." He sighed again and shook his head, "Ah hell I don't know."
"Now, all I can do is visit, read a few stories," he continued as he picked up a book from a desk nearby, "Spoon River Anthology, a classic from long ago. I read it when I can, trying to bring the life out of each person read about."
For a moment, it was as if he forgot that Chris was there as he began reading the characters of Emily Sparks and Willie Metcalf. As he finished the latter, he remembered and put the book back.
The two men would eventually leave the room and back towards a lonely area of the lobby.

After 9 hours of surgery, Doreen exited to the hallway with one of her team members.
"Care for a drink?" he asked her.
"No," she shook, "I'm exhausted. I'm heading home to spend a little time with my son and then catch some sleep. Maybe another time."
"Fair enough," he smiled, "good night."
"Night, Roger," she smiled. She headed down the hallway to check on her other patients, most of whom were sleeping so she just made a few vital and chart checks. As she did, she stopped at the coffee bar. While she was beyond coffee, she figured it would give her lift enough to get home.
She stood by the receptionist, sipping her coffee.
"So how did it go, Doctor?" asked the woman.
"Well, that poor girl has a long way to go," she said, "with all the burns it took us much of what we had just to close her up internally and removed a bad leg. I'll need to meet with some of the other staff on the burns."
"Ew," replied the receptionist.
"Well, I'll check her tomorrow and see where we go from here," she said, "for now, I need to get home."
"Good night, Doreen," said the receptionist.
"Night," replied Doreen.
She stood just outside the front entrance, sipping her coffee. The light breeze was refreshing and she took several minutes to enjoy it.
As Doc lead him back it might be noticed any nurse or Doctor they passed only got a murderous and enigmatic look. He sighed as they were just about there."You should go talk to her while she sleeps, she may be able to hear you, knowing to your holding up would be good for her I guess... She will be fine and you know it Doc, If these people are as dedicated as you, then I'm sure they'd be giving an arm or a leg."He moved a hand to pat on top of Doc's shoulder reassuringly.
His head straightened as they got to the lobby and his keen eyes took in the figure just in front of then entrance. his hand sliding off as he went past Doc."Forgive me, I need to say hello to some one."He didn't check to see if Doc was following but with his caution and speed of his movements, it was hard to keep up with him so Doc would fall behind as he exits the door.
The Hooded blond figure dug his hands into his pockets as he straightened his back and slumped into a more causal stance."Well well well, Looks like your all dressed up for a date."The smug voice of the man would take on his more raw accent being unique in its own right.
