If transports get strengthened in their ability to defend themselves, I'll be happy.
Of course it's not the case, and now their main defense (which is surviving long enough to dock) has been negated by the ability to use cruisers.
I like the way this simplifies rules, but it has to be recognised that transports were balanced as they currently are with the assumption that they didn't need to fight back because of the rule exception. Now they do, as the exception may no longer exist after this trial period.
Why it's good: some factions have embargoes. Some of the factions that have embargoes have mostly caps *points at Rheinland and Liberty*.
Why it's bad: transports will now be on the bottom of the food chain. It will maybe be impossible to make money if you're pirated on every corner. I always liked short routes - now I like them even more.

Well, hiring escort is unnecessary under these circumstances. Few shots, double LM, see you in Valhalla. Now you lost your cargo, money for escort and see ya in 4 hours...
I hope this Trial Period ends soon and things go back to normal...Frankly this is just STUPID as hell as I can tell that every nutjob and his MOTHER is gonna be grabbing a Cruiser for the SOLE purpose of griefing traders when a simple Bomber or Gunboat could do the SAME THING but at least give the trader a fighting chance. You CANNOT outrun a Cruiser in a Transport, not with it hounding you, sure the transport gets like 10 extra speed or so, but that doesn't matter when the guy is shooting Pulses and LM's your hull like crazy before you can escape and CD's ya so you cannot thrust/cruise away very effectively.
But frankly...This picture says what I am thinking.

One more problem I see here are the pirate cruiser groups with 3-4 cruisers hunting down entire convoys, with the convoy escort not even able to get down 1 cruiser before the transports are blown up.
More over trade will break down with transports excemption of moving around after being killed. They will be shot more now, effectiviley disrupting any encounters within a certain region if it goes on like this.
I already expect heavy Q_Q like it was with all the Hogosha pirating the hell out of trades within Kusari. Back then the devs / admins restricted the Hogosha ID, now we will face the same situation all over sirius.
Where is the sense in that?
