I really, really like the idea of the bundschuh, and they were were cool in stock freelancer/the campaign.
They're like. Sorta dead and forgotten about, normally, now.
I wanna change that.
I aaaaaalso make this thread for discussing how to do this, so I'll start off by making a faction overview/suggestion.
Input would be lovely.
Please keep in mind, this is just a rough draft.

Excerpt from the wiki, just so you (and me, too) have a basic idea what I'm working off of: Bundschuh - The Present
The Nomad War was a defining moment in the history of the Bundschuh. Playing a pivotal role in the defeat of the Nomads, the Bundschuh leveraged all of their remaining resources in a final public relations campaign. Showcasing both their role as 'the people's protector' and of the government and military's rampant infection rate, a whole new generation was exposed to the Bundschuh. While many of the media that the Bundschuh used were quickly shut down, the people did not forget what they heard. Membership among the everyday people of Rheinland swelled, and credits raised revitalized a dwindling organization. The Bundschuh now face an era of national crisis, where an insane chancellor has imposed his own self-worship upon the people of Rheinland. Assaulted from all sides, the Bundschuh seek to rescue a floundering Rheinland. Goals
The goals of the Bundschuh are simple, overthrow the government, institute a democracy, kick out the aristocrats, and bring equality to the average man. To bring these goals about, the Bundschuh are working on three fronts. First, they bombard the Rheinland people with much propaganda and information, hoping to win the popularity contest before the war has even begun. Secondly, surgical strikes against government offices weaken infrastructure and pave the way for larger actions. Thirdly, there is diplomacy. The Bundschuh attempt to keep strong ties with many unlawful and revolutionary groups in order to unite them to fight against a common cause. Were the Bundschuh to come to power, they would immediately impose basic democratic and economic freedoms that the average Rheinlander and nationalize large portions of the corporations that currently control Rheinland.
-Bundschuh title here-/Bundschuh technical guerilla
Relations:
Allies: LWB
Red Hessians
Cautiously positive: Unioners
The order
Neutral: Foreign entities
To be engaged rarely/if nessecary: Daumann
Kruger
Hostile towards: Bounty hunters
Rheinland lawfuls
Pilots flying for the following, are to be shot on sight, in most cases: Büro der Marineintelligenz
------
OORP goals: Revival of the bundschuh faction as an interesting choice to play for both the new and old, the main focus is likely to be heavy roleplay, with (hopefully), planned in-game events so that we can stay true to the spirit of the faction and not just be common pie-rats or something. The latter will also, hopefully, foster interaction with other factions, in and outside of character. such as for planning the events, things like a raid on a convoy by some corrupt politician or other.
IRP goals:
Long Term - The overthrow and restructuring of the rheinland government into a true democracy
Short Term - rooting out corruption and hindering the capture/destruction of their own and allied pilots and supporting other rheinland freedom movements.
Additional: Protect supporters of the cause(s), by, for instance, offering protection to supply lines, otherwise, the occational guerrilla harrassment of rheinland lawfuls might occur.
------
Ship/tech use: Border worlds, civillian rheinland, sirius general civillian, bundschuh.
Structure and status:
Though the Bundschuh have long operated with their ultimate goal in mind, and the subsequent reveal of the nomad menace did, not only, give them a rush of new recruits, but made things look up, it was a brief period of time in which the Bundschuh almost came to power as an actual political party, or so they thought. The corruption of the rheinland government was, after all, not just in the nomads, but in the government itself, and its corporation's influence.
Hopelessness and ruthless dispatching of the many supporters, men of science and labor alike, caused a rapid decline in both members and support, for various reasons, partly the deaths, mostly the prolonged lethal danger of openly supporting the Bundschuh.
Today, brought together by a professor of sound and spacial distortions, descendant of a previously revered Bundschuh surgical strike wing pilot, who was supposed to help strike a ship construction yard with Herr von Claussen and Edison Trent during the nomad war, but stayed behind to guard Bundschuh from further threats, that day, which in turn is why the man lived long enough to father Augusta- a group of Bundschuh hope to once more spread the word of their colleagues, and bring back the Bundschuh as a force to be reckoned with, and a voice to be heard- stronger than ever.
(again, this is just the rough draft, for suggestion's sake, I honestly am struggling a little trying to balance playability versus sticking to the general theme/idea/theory of the bundschuh)
We are already planning to revive Volksfront as political WW2 style undeground army/partisant force. Worry not, more people to join better it is. My VF characters are intact.
As the former leader of the Volksfront I'd like to say that I'd love to see the Bundschuh return. I still got an ol' -VF) Loki which can use and I'm willing to help in any way I can and I'm sure there are more former VF-ers out there who share my thoughts.
Well, sure, I do believe I was in the Volksfront way back when (just before it died, actually, which subsequently made me sadface for several months).
But this was just the suggestion I wanted to attach to the communications post I made.
At least so we have some sort of base to work off of.
I think it is a good idea. Everytime i see the NPCs everywhere, i always wonder why not a player faction. Just need to make sure those who join know it is not a cap faction. As they have none, or can borrow some with nerfs. But with enough bombers/fighters you can still kill anything that gets in your way. Good luck.
I'm thinking, to stay with the idea of who they are and what they do, you won't see anything heavier than bombers and vhfs and such. And possibly as part of events. Seeing as they're only pirates when they have an extremely good reason, or so I'd like to think.
Edit:
Oh yeah, and a good reason for making this board too is to show people I'm serious. :3
' Wrote:Actualy soon enough we may employ RM ships (including gunboats). This is a fine and wonderful option for every Bundschuh with military background.
Yeah, but that sort of has to be worked out with the powers that be, I believe?
That, and I honestly think bundschuh, being (generally) highly educated (or originally, anyway), they'd have some kind of unique ship.
I mean they have an awesome set of self-manufactured guns, after all.

They are educated yes, but they are not able to make ships, they could design it but not produce it. They do not have the means to do so. No shipyards and not the people who could piece it together.
