Saw the test results and I am shocked. What a huge disappointment. Not only the performance, but the power-consumption. I have used AMD for 10 years now, even in the times of Core2Duo vs Athlon 64 X2. But my next rig will definitely contain a Sandy Bridge i5 or i7.
I'm just gona stick to my AM2+ platform . Still have a sturdy 790X chipset that fully supports newest Phenom II line.
Upgrade to Zosma/Turban and stay till Bullzoder refreshes worth upgrading to AM3/DDR3

Seems like the best value for money right now!
Was considering the same thing myself. Looks like damn good value for money. My poor old Core 2 Duo (I still remember writing the Disco post when I bought it LOL) is getting long in the tooth, and my video editing needs more corez pleeze.
What motherboard chipset did you go for? 890G? Video?

As for unlocking... ugh bad medicine.
Cheers!
edit: Sorry for the O/T ^_^
Hey Onca:)
Yea, the 1090T is what I settled for. Now I can get practice lapping and overclocking my 4800+:) Apparently you can still maintain excellent temps on AMD's stock cooler.
As for the motherboard, I went for the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 motherboard. Keeping my trusty ATI 4670 1GB card. Can't afford to upgrade it yet:)

AMD Athlon II X2 245 3.706 Ghz
Stock Phenom II Cooler
31C Idle
42C Load
AMD stock coolers are great. Especially the Phenom II ones on dual cores. Bit loud but nothing a software fan controller can't resolve.
Getting a Corsair A70 soon for some nice dual 120mm fan action on the heatsink
