ya,
ive bene attacked in Honshu on a route once, he attacked me and demanded 2mill after hittng me several times and my cargo is woth 1.5mill in profit, so i fought back pushed him back (shot 8 shots it dropped his shields)and fled to New Tokyo. But he folowed me and went at it again, i shot at him he shoots back. I just gave him 1mill becasue i got sick of him following me.
Leason: Give him money so he can stop shooting you. If you dont give him, he'll follow you and keep on attacking you till you give in or till your destroyed
Another leasson: If a fighter attacks a advanced train or any other transport ,what if the pilot has good weapons set up and has a good shot. its probobly not worth it
If they are transports, then I tend to let them go...But if they are a faction, and they are flying a transport, then I don't. Yes I use the number to determine how rich a trader is. But the first thing I do is CD them...scan them...see if they don't have a weird tag combo, then their cargo to see what they are hauling...and finally chat with them.
I am a nice pirate if they stop cruise and impulse all together. But if they run, they get my attitude. I don't shoot them for running once, becuase once they see i can CD them over and over and over, they say "I don't have that much." I see pirates just say "Not good enough" And blow them out of the sky. If they can't pay enough, I cripple them in a system without a sun or near a station/planet, so they end up paying somthing for their run in with me. ie: most of their turrets, half their full and most of their cargo pods.
I see more traders paying now this thread has come up. It must be working so keep posting !

So far i have taxed my way up to around the total of 2.5 Million. Most of the taxes were around 300k, the lowest one so far was 40k and the highest at 500k,.. That is far from being a good income, but provides great RP opportunities... I guess the traders will probably be reluctant to admit that it makes the game more fun even for them...

As of Unioners, we demand maximum 2 million credits per player if we see the level of the trader is appropriate and oftenly let the small fishes pass freely. Via lane raiding, I can guarantee that we could make over 5 millions profit in an hour or maybe more. Actually depends on the activity level in Bering and Hamburg.
It seems as if there are more pirates than traders now... and there just isn't enough trader income to support the pirates.
Pirates are starting to shoot at my friend's trader ships on sight without even going "halt".
Heck I had a desperate one in Magellan tell me that my cargo was worth 2 million so I can afford the 2 million. What was my cargo? A name change certificate you say?
Alot of pirates will fly up, and won't do any RP stuff. They waltz up and go "kaiden 2 mil". No offense to anyone who pirates like that... but put some effort in? You want me to give you 2 million of my earned cash, the least you could do is at least make it feel like I'm being pirated rather than some homeless old beggar demanding coins.
Then there are the ones who go "halt give me 2 mil", and when I on my rare "geez I should just pay this guy" moments stop my engines and begin to type, he blows me away 5 seconds after I stop.
Also I've been told by some of my friends that they get PMed by pirates saying "they're ruining the RP of the server by running" and "pirates need income too this isn't fair".
I got a very generous 4M from a trader yesterday, when i only asked for 3M very politeley... it's a real shame more pirates dont RP well,... but i also got 1M when i asked for 2M and police on my tail... in Honshu system...:D
Taxes should be negotiable, as traders are traders by trade,...
As far as blowing up ships, I taxed about 10 ppl and about 10 got away, docking or F1-ing, but i am yet to blow up a ship for not paying,;)
Although i would like to see trade ships being slower (muahaha), but seriusly why don't the traders pay, if you make 10 mill on your trip, (if you're not you're a poor trader) why not pay 1 mil for the most fun part of your trip... being pirated;)

Because so many pirates sit on trade routes that it's not just "1 mil", it's more like 5 or 6 when my profit margin is 6 mil.
tip: Work out routes. A trader far into his route is more likely to pay you.
Unless I'm too tired or too busy doing laundry or something I'll avoid paying taxes on the first half of my leg.
well i usualy tax 1 mill for people bellow 65 and any higher i'll tax 2 mill, but lvl 85,s + that will be up to 4 mill at max. so it's not too much, remember traders it's much harder to pirate than trade.
oh what ships am i aloud to be in for taxing?
