Possible Mammoth/T23 Replacement

Ive been just fiddling around in Wings 3D, then, by accident, I made this:

It reminded me of the T23 and the mammoth, so I thought that maybe, it would be a replacement for either one. I know the Liberty Gunboat is ugly looking and the look of the mammoth isn't as appealling to people. Its just a rough sketch, blue being where the viewport is. Compacted mid-section, extended forward section, angled parts of the hull for transport turrets, allowed for "Bridging" for Gunboat conversion, and can place extra parts like wings and what not later on. I have looked on the forums and saw alot of people had dislikes for the 2 Liberty ship:PResearch for what people look for ships is crucial. Remember, rough out line for now, upgraded down the road.

While I'm sure you put some effort into that....

It's just...It's nowhere near being better looking than the Liberty Gunboat, which, as far as I know, many people are happy with it's looks as is.

As for the Mammoth, what's wrong with the Mammoth? It's ugly, and looks like a freighter.

And also, cleaner textures, and more windows.

Please explain to me how that, a squashed LSC mesh with horrendous textures, inverted normals on the bottom, and outright strange low poly geometry on the wings, looks better than this.

In any event, we're getting off topic from the OP's post, and my point to that stands. it's a strange shape, with no details, that looks like it was ripped from a game from 1995.

The idea behind it is much better, and it'd be fine with some fixes to the textures.
Yours just looks like the unloved spawn of a dread and a cruiser.
You know, not every Liberty ship has to be a downsized version of the Dreadnaught.


On the OP; I find the Mammoth ugly as all hell, but to be brutally honest it's better than this.
You need to refine your 3D modelling skills before you'll have a hope of making a suitable replacement model.
Can you honestly say to yourself that your model is on par with the other models in Discovery, especially the Vanilla ones?

Like I said before, its a rough build, so Its not gonna be perfect. Im not using textures until it looks decent enough for one, shape-wise. Its a WIP, could replace the Mammoth, cause seriously, the ship is kind of ludicrous looking, almost like a ship out of Halo, for god sake.
