I just got a new BS which I would like to equip for multi-purpose. It's an Order vessel and I plan to explore every corner available.
Browsing the forums I found many possible "solutions". What do you think about the following:
1x Heavy Mortar
2x Basic Battleship Missile Turret
(Mainly for fighting GS / Cruisers / BS)
1x Battle Razor
8x Solaris Battleship Turret
(For self-defense against Fighters and Bombers...)
I already contacted some helpfull forum members and got the suggestion to drop the 'Missile Turrets' and some Solaris so I could mount some Cerb or Primary turrets instead.
So the config would look like:
1x Heavy Mortar
1x Battle Razor
4x Solaris Battleship Turret
6x Cerberus Battleship Turret / Order Battleship Turret Mk II
Shall I drop all Solaris? Cerberus or Order Turrets? Doesnt the lack of Solaris make me even more vulnerable to Bombers?
The Osiris is an agile battleship. If you know how to use it well, it can do a lot of damage by mortaring. It's also rather small, so packing it tightly with Solaris tends to be a common choice.
If you're going for solaris, use them in generous quantities. Less then 8 is pointless, and make sure you got 6 covering every arc (these turrets swing faster, use them on hardpoints that do not have a full arc). Cerberus can hurt, but is not very energy efficient. Hit and run is what you use those for. I'd say at least 4 are needed.
Missiles can end a gunboat, cruiser and even snub threat, but are considered noobish weapons. Also a MAJOR friendly fire risk in a snub ball.
In your case, I'd recommend:
4x Cerberus - Nose flanks, nose bottom and rear top.
1x Mortar (front topside mounted)
7x Battleship Secondary - these will deal with both fighters and gunboats quite effectively.
