The Bounty Hunter capital ships 'evolve' with each addition, much like their snub line. Adding this between the Bullhead and the Mako leaves the same impression like parking your SUV between two Ferrari's.
Point is, it does not fit. The BHG ships are taller than they are wide, the opposite of this ship. It does not look like a Light Battleship, and they hardly need a Light Battleship anyway.
And in what way does the current Mako suck? I didn't quite catch that. Model-wise or Stat-wise ?
Take, for example, the LSC cruiser compared to the LD, they're radically different.
The RM Cruiser to the RM Battlesnail. Extremely different.
Kusari Destroyer to the Kusari Battleship. Kilometers apart.
My point being, as both a player and a designer, that the silly notion that the capitalships have to be oversized snubs is frankly poor design and only causes monotony. (and the whole snubs having a box or two added and suddenly becoming a lot tougher and having more powercore etc was silly anyway, even in vanilla)
Discovery, especially with ship design, is so conservative. So conservative it loops around and becomes the opposite. Trying to keep the retail Freelancer style, while blatantly ignoring and spitting on it. You so called 'designers' don't live up to your title, you don't design, you don't create. You merely replicate. Like a Von Neumann machine.
The Bounty Hunter fan-added ships may as well have just been upscaled versions of the LF. It's dumb, ugly, and uninspired.
I feel this is something that needs to be said and needs to be read.
As for the topic's mesh, it's a decent shape, it, however, doesn't look like a large ship in the least. A large ship needs small details to help it appear big. The shape of the vessel, however, doesn't lend itself to a large ship. The wings, for instance, makes us think of real-life fighters, and makes it appear to be smaller to us, which is why in general, you don't see capitals designed with large wings on them, but you do see snubcraft with large wings.
The shape is too fishy too me, it looks like you went fishing and tried to fly across the universe inside of it. Though that's more of a personal preference.

I only know that People were working on it. Just because there's one Mistake in the Shipline it doesn't give a Reason to add another Mistake.
To be honest, the Orca should be a civilian Gunboat, much like the Kusari Civilian Gunboat.
I happen to think it's actually one of the nicer models (engines are nicely done, and turret placement is well thought out for balance [although the forward gun is bad]). But as everybody says it does not look anything like a BH ship. This is beneficial to me since it takes a moment for the unlawfuls to realize who I am (haha), but yeah that's what makes it bad design.
The Orca fillls an artificial need. BH has the Bottlenose gunship for fighter and bomber combat, but it is way too weak to fight gunboats or unlawful capital ships (ie Rogue Destroyer). The Thresher destroyer is good for small caps, but it belongs to Core and cannot be used against unlawfuls in lawful space. Orca is a mid-level gunboat (good shape and power but limited weapon options). Technically the Orca also belongs to Core (only available there) although it is allowed in house space. So basically you have to take the Orca if you want to fight criminal gunboats in the lawful sectors.
Supposedly, Core is going to be fully split from BH at some point (maybe 4.86?) so the Thresher and larger ships are all going away, and those can split off into their own design thread. I think this makes a good opportunity to craft an appropriate large gunboat for the BH, something that is a little stronger than the Orca and able to hold up to a Rogue Destroyer for more than 15 seconds. Perhaps the Thresher model can be used for this since it's basically a large gunboat already, and then the Thresher can get a new model that gives it similar visual clues as the larger Core ships, which are sleeker and more cylindrical anyway.
So that's my suggestion: give the Orca to Core so they have a gunboat, downsize the Thresher to be the new BH gunboat, and make a new model for Core destroyer. This dolphin-thingy may work well for that.
' Wrote:What Luis means to say is that it has no detail. The shape is fine but that thing would be underdetailed even for an LF, hence it comes off as looking very tiny. The larger the ship, the more details it needs.
Thank you for pitching in the word for me, Tycho.
Let me add on to clarify:
Model Shape: Overall shape looks good, not excellent but good. You have wings/fins which right now doesn't make sense to have one in a battleship. The design doesn't literally has to come or be designed like a fish or some sort but a slight look.
Size: It looks small; lacks details. Looks fragile and has no thick armor to be known as a 'megalodon'. I mean, when I hear megalodon and refer it to a ship - Im thinkinng of a beastly, thick armor platers, massive ship that would support to handle atleast a Marduck in-game.
Skills: I see you're getting a good feel on how to model but you need to try 3ds Max or (personally) Metasoqouia. Easiest modeling tools to be found. But you insisted to agree and felt confortable with your desire model program which I respect. Hoping to see better work from you.
Edit: I posted this before so it shouldn't be new to most people I hope. However, it's just TRASH model:
But anyways - here is an example of the same "name" I used for this ship "Megalodon"
