I'm droolgasming.
I dunno if I've seen something with more effort put into just creating what an ordinary military file looks like.
Amazing job on this.
OSD has looked tempting to me for a while now, but I have enough on my plate already, I think. Stop doing such a good job with everything!:$
(No, seriously. Props.)
Thanks =P
Not to gloat, but I probably put more work into this one description of a single character/ship than most people put into entire factions. I wrote the majority of the text bit more than a year ago, and ended up having to re-write almost all of it in the last week to fit various changes that occurred with my character/OSD/4.86 plans, I also re-did all of the ship interior pictures 3 times before I was satisfied with them (the original images looked rather uninspired and 'boring', IMO), and I redid the crew images twice (the originals were all 400x700 or so pixels for each and every crew member, I decided to condense them down to something more forum-friendly).
' Wrote:What an extraordinary effort for one ship/set of characters. I'm quite impressed.
I see some interior details borrowed from ME2. Where are the other pics from? Just curious.
A few are from mass effect 2, yes - the rest are from Star Wars: The Old Republic, specifically they're screenshots of the inside of the Imperial Agent's Starship, the X70-B Phantom. I used those to mix things up a bit and provide images of areas I couldnt match up to ME2 screens because the Phantom's interior design greatly resembles that of the Normandy, at least in aesthetic apperance.
By the way, further information on the pakhet, primarily involving the testing of it's various experimental systems (which will mostly occur over time after the release of 4.86) can be found in the 'active projects' section of the OSD directory, located here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=108891&hl=
' Wrote:There are no admirals onboard this ship, no reason for any of them to be that old. Staite is a bit young for a command position, but keep in mind she was born and raised on toledo and trained from the time she could walk and talk to eventually become an officer in the order, not exactly 'normal' circumstances there.
At least there are no 19 year old admirals here =P
I think you got me a little bit wrong. I know that Staite is quite young an I also remember her origin, so I was more refering to the other crew members. Perhaps one of the escort fighter pilots, preferably their leader, should be at least above 30 to show that he has the moxt experience.
You know what I mean? A bit more diversity in terms of age would not be bad. Other than that quite excellent, if you consider that you just wrote it for ONE capital vessel.
You have a point, however I figure that most combat pilots in sirius - at least those in more dangerous factions such as the order - dont tend to live very long, it's a hazardous occupation at best. Live fast, die young, and leave an uninfected corpse =P
Tinypic has been deleting pictures a lot lately, I'm starting to get pissed at the host in general, since now they even force you to watch advertisements before you can enter capcha codes. Stupid photobucket buyout -_-
"Pakhet" Engineering Report #306A
[color=#FF9900]Chief Engineer Daniel Benson, Livadia Shipyard
Commander Staite visited Livadia shipyard today to check on the progress of the Pakhet's construction. I have assured the commander that the vessel is nearing completion, and should take no more than two weeks before being capable of making its maiden voyage. Currently, the following tasks are still in progress:
-
The upper sensor array is being installed, the original sensor array was in place but was heavily damaged by a docking incident that occurred at Livadia as Zoner ships were returning to the station for inspections and retrofits. The replacement sensor array has set us behind more than two million credits in equipment and labor costs, but should be completed and ready for exterior plating within two days.
-
The final armor plating sections are being fitted. Several armor segments were left off of the outer hull until now so as to provide easier access for the installation of shield generators, nanobot hatches, and escape pods. Once the outer hull and armor plating is completed, the vessel will be tested for atmosphere retention between the outer hull and pressure hull.
-
The antimatter reactor is still being calibrated, so far the generator alone has caused us more problems than any other part of the ship, and has put the project significantly over budget. The reactor chamber had to be vented during the first test activation due to incorrect alignment of the alien focusing crystal. Commander Staite's ship brought a new shipment of Antimatter to replace what was lost in the test activation.
-
Power relays to the Jump-Projection Drive and Active Cloaking Screen Emitters still need to be installed, both systems will be offline for at least another week until we receive the power capacitors and superconductors needed for those relays. The shipping master informed me that the original shipment was intercepted by pirates, and a second shipment had to be dispatched with replacements.
-
Weapon systems will be unavailable until the Pakhet can be moved to Evora Shipyard. High Command made it clear that weapon systems were not to be shipped to Livadia, as the risk of interception and theft was too high. The Pakhet will be quite vulnerable until a retrofit at Evora is made.
