Ah ok.. Well i think i understand better now. I suppose it would be a lot of work for the admins and what not... But still. It's definitively not the perfect system. Personally, I believe there should be rules and a system made specifically for groups wanting to rebel. It would allow for some epic RP.

' Wrote:As far as I know, I think they can shoot Outcasts with Outcast ID'd and IFF'd ships, it's just that the 101st can FR2 them if they want to, thus forcing them to stop using that ID.

Basically, they need a diffrent ID if they want to rebel. So pretty much what others said.

Also, I see that certain someones are typing replys right now, so inb4biasconspiracyelitismalienstinfoilhat.

Edit: if this thing gets locked, is it ok if we start another about the ability of a faction using an ID to rebel and fight the official faction using that same ID? I'm a bit curious.
There are instances where RP rebellions have been successful. Those are fun.:P

Didnt the corsairs have a civil war a while back that was allowed?

EDIT thanks for the full explanation Joe, I always thought official factions could FR5 and force their indies to stop using their ID.

Removed as it was possibly a bad idea, however, look at the recent events in the Order (last year) we had a mini civil war

I would have to look through this to find out, although I believe the last civil war incidient with the corsairs happened before the faction rights were in their present form.

What would then happen to the ship?

Lets take an example... An order indy (lets say a cruiser) gets FR5'd by the official faction, and is made hostile to the order and is stripped of the ID.

What happens to the ship? without fanctional permission, that ship would be sanction bait operating an order cap on pretty much any other ID.

That isn't really something we can allow to happen. The otehr alternative is that we just throw ships which gets FR5'd to their own faction into bastille, however I'm sure you can see the issue with that. It would turn FR5 into a sanction, which is not what it is intended to be.

Now there's an idea... force players to be unable to equip their ID below a certain reputation. That way, a FR5 would end up removing IDs off ships.

The catch there, is it would essentially "ground" capital ships because there are no generic IDs which permit capital ships. Actually, that would be perfect, depending on your perspective...

Edit: Ninja'd.

There was a sig here, once.

Are there any ideas floating around that could fix the problem that Joe brought up, where the faction leader is essentially powerless to punish an Indie of his faction, except via in-game combat? I was always of the same opinion as Hone, and assumed that a faction could FR5 an indie and force them to give up their ID.

Seems like a headache of a problem for everybody.

Let it burn.

Here's a solution:

Join CR/IMG.... Kill 101st... and attempted to return the balance of power back to where it was a year ago.

It is. Sweet Jesus in a corndog it is a monumental pain in the butt. The reason we essentially tell people we dont care when indies screw up is because THERE ISNT A DAMN THING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. Yeah, you can try and teach them if they are screwing up but what if they dont care? What if their response is 'LAAAAWL! Then what? Shoot them? Nope. Fill reports for five hours a day? Nope. Im here to play, not babysit. So what do we do? Rage? Quit? Yeah, THAT makes things better. Until we have some way of lobotomising people, this is a problem that cannot be solved. Freedom vs. Stupidity is a delicate balance here. Sometimes it goes over the edge and all you can do is walk away and hope its better tomorrow.
