Rule suggestion regarding Faction Feedback

He is suggesting that the admins make it a rule that people who are not part of a faction and are not giving feedback themselves stay out of a factions feedback thread. Meaning, he doesn't want to see people who are not faction members responding to posted feedback.

I'm bias on this, as I tend to do exactly what he is wanting to prevent. I'll voice my opinion if allowed, I've done it and had the faction leader ask me to STFU. Which I did. I've done it and had the faction leader thank me. I don't see an issue with a third party reading the feedback and putting their two cents in, as sometimes another look at something helps all parties.

Faction leaders can easily enough ask a moderator or admin to tell someone to shut up in their thread. If the mod or admin feel the request has merit they'll do it. If not, they won't. Like I said, I've been on the receiving end of both sides.

All in all, in my eyes, the suggestion is rather stupid. There is no problem with having third parties drop their thoughts in, so why ban it?

Well, you are right, Daedric, but then again, you are doing the job, that actually members and especially the leadership of the faction are supposed to do.
I can only asume that Geckon did not want to have people with "counter"-feedback stay out but rather enforce the faction to respond to feedback instead of letting others do the job.

At least this is my view of this discussion here.

It's just funny how many people managed to completely misunderstand what the OP was saying. However, I'm still against the idea, for the reasons that Daedric gave.

I do think people have seen this and gone, "Ugh it's him again, trying to crap all over the official factions". Usually you'd probably be right, but here I think you're wrong. However I also think Geckon is wrong. An outside perspective is often very useful, and while nobody can give feedback on something if they haven't experienced it, they can offer insights and advice. This is just as useful as the feedback itself.

It's all about rule 0.0 anyway. One should have some decency and a bit of wise.

A 3rd party views on a raised subject is always nice. It is called constructive criticism. From the view of the guy who filed the complaint, it is nice for him to see that his concerns are backed up by others. From the faction point of view, it is nice to have others protect them.

What makes faction feedback flawed is that the faction is always right. Very rarely I have seen that any kind of complaints were dealt with in a manner of "Yes you are right, we fraked up. Sorry."

Usually such posts are countered by many faction members voicing their concerns. Most of which is about one of the following issues with the poster:

The post owner is known for his grudge against the faction.
The post owner has died by the faction.
The post owner is in a faction which is hostile to the faction.
The post owner is in a faction which is competing with the faction.

Usually these posts simply reduce themselves in a poo slinging fest with the faction side trying to bring up one of the above mentioned issues and the poster trying to decline them, the original post lost.

Bias is everywhere. Noone can deny that. But from a perspective of an outsider, feedback threads are redundant. Sadly, other outside threads usually are marked as trial by forum.

If I'm reading what the OP said correctly, what he's saying is that if he had an issue with my faction, then regarding that issue, only he, I, and members of my faction would post about that issue - meaning that Daedric, Ilya, (just to pull two names from this topic) or anyone else that wasn't involved in that incident should post regarding that specific incident.

Actually, I have no issues with that.

Course, our feedback thread is sort of ignored anyway, since no one seems to have issues with us at the moment. Seriously, 8 months and no one has gotten pissed at us, or decided that they like us, or anything else, enough to post in our feedback thread? Bowex and IC must also feel the love - they're ignored as well...
