Hm, well i got my way up to a cruiser with pirating... then you can't pirate in a cruiser alone,... the only problem with traders is being out of roleplay... if a gunboat comes infront of your train, you have nowhere to go... they ask for a silly amount (let's say 500k), why the hell do you run? You have to be really mean not to pay 10% of what you make in one run... to a pirate you meet every 10th run... i never understand those traders....
but i got lucky once, getting 50M while pirating...:Di wont forget that one...

I only pay pirates who attempt to roleplay. The pirates who see trader ships as flying ATM machines, no way.
I don't think a pirate should go "Kaiden, 2mil now". It should be something more interesting like "Pilot, power down your engines or I'll do it for you! Now, give me 2 million before I lose my patience."
As it stands most of the time I get treated like a voice activated money dispenser.

Well, the majority of my encounters with traders I start out by telling the trader to power down their engines and prepare to be boarded. But 90% of the time I get the typical OORP trader responses. Sometimes they dock and say "well I needed to log anyway" ... other times they say ... "kill me, its cheaper" or something like that. Only 10% of the traders I encounter are willing to actually respond in RP to my RP demands. Most are just interested in making credits as quickly as possible and just look at pirates as something getting in their way of the quick buck.
We'll i did RP when i pirated... so perhaps that's why they pay, but still F1 escapes are very common... once a dude F1'd on me in NY, (that was before pvp was enabled in NY), and then you get the kind of chars that don't know that yet and think they're invincible in NY,... so much about RP..
Still the more you RP more ofthen you will get paid by honest traders...

Sorry, thats a poor choice of words. But it is quite oorp to do so, which to me makes it a bit lame. Strictly speaking, you shouldn't be able to detect another ship, until they are in your scanner range. That and you shouldn't be able to tell how much cash someone has, by looking at a number. The only things you should have are ship, and cargo to go by.
But thats just if you are RPing anyhow.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

No, you can RP looking at the system lists and levels.
Long-range scanners. I imagine that most criminals have some sort of contacts that hack the neural net system, finding out who is richest in Sirius. Hell, you can find out who is rich in real-life on Google. It isn't a big secret.

I used to be a pirate on vanilla (trying something diffrent now). The key to traders thing is.. new players will always be traders, its the best way to get on feet. When you see a new player (level) do not introduce him to RP by taxing him, the introduction should be something more pleasant like offering an escort, sharing safety information in the area or just an RP-based greeting. Later they get a hang of RP and participate in it:)Thats why I rarely had out of RP trader getting busted. "Play ceremonial ball with us, and we'll play ceremonial ball with you" Everyones happy. (I usually dont hunt low level players). Hire them for ppintless patrol missions or such.... Common sense.
