There's no need to grind after buying what you want, and it doesn't take long to get what you want, so you run out of game very fast. I don't want grinding, so overall this is a net positive to me, but it is one of the reasons the game gets boring quickly--it is easy to reach goals and people who are objective-focused get bored quickly.

What goals? Money goals? Of course, the Discovery economy is just like an MMO.

Grind enough and you will get what you want eventually.

Of course, if you've tried setting and meeting an RP goal (like becoming Administrator of Freeport 11, wink wink)

It's much, much harder and is much much less boring than just grinding for pixel ships.

First thing, don't mind me saying and all, I'm a direct man,
Elitists, be it admins, players or their friends, they take it for granted
to abuse their powers just because they have a higher status in the community
than normal members. ( That's everything I'll say about it, some may get what I'm
talking about some may not. )

Snap.

The only goals here are ship and equipment. Once you buy them you, the only grind you have to do is for repair money.

I bet half of that is done in forums, so its not even in-game nevermind in-game grinding

A lot of people equate PvP with RP.
A lot of players need to know that they are not the same but others should be aware they are not mutually exclusive either.
The real issue for me is that now days, it seems that there is no alternative to PvP. RP has become purely the precursor to the PvP that WILL happen, no matter what. So much so that insults are mediocre or unoriginal at best, purely as a mechanism to satisfy the engagement rules, rather than anything intelligent to communicate.
Shame really.
The RP can be fun if done well. You should try it....

What are you talking about? What loss of interest in Disco? Players limit is increased, I can't even log on my account, server has probably due to this crashes...

I don't think you can narrow it down to any few reasons. I know people who've left because of not enough RP, the other people on the server, dumb indies, dumb factions, and of course the big one: RP couldn't continue because of changes in release time of 4.86.

Oh great, here we go with all the conspiracy crap again.

You all talk about elitism as if it's a bad thing, when to be honest it's what holds everything together. A community needs people with more power than them, because otherwise everybody's equal. And in a society where everybody's equal everybody will fight with each other for more power. An equal society can't exist because there's that deep primitive human instinct to be better than the people next door.

Quite a few people here wouldn't be able to lead anything on Disco, and the people who can lead are leading. Some may be biased, yes. Some may be nicer to others in the community, yes. Some may do things you don't like. Can you do anything about anything you want to do things about? No. It'd be like walking up to Kim Jong-Un (not relating anybody in power here to Kim Jong-Un in any way, just an example) and demanding he relinquish power because you see he's being nice to a select few.

Just deal with it and get on with your lives. Seriously, if you stop thinking about all of injustice and unfairness in the community Discovery will become a lot more fun for you.

Edit: I may have lost interest in the server but I haven't lost interest in the community. They're two separate parts that make Discovery.

[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.
