Ballistic Weapons

Hi.
So, in the game we got energy weapons and missiles, energy weapons are pretty good, but none is hull-focused , and missiles are underused since their ammo is so limited

So the idea is to add the long lost bullet in game.
In game, it would've a projectile fired out a railgun/Gauss gun at extremely high speeds, probably relativistic; so then taking Sir Isaac Newton's law into account, it would hit EXTREMELY HARD. While most energy weapons burn the hull out, the bullet goes straight through it, piercing throught it, leaving a higher risk of hull breach; and producing a blunt-shockwave, that wears down the hull, leaving the whole ship weakened. However, they would have a disadvantage it would've one of these:

1) The bullets are pair-produced from the ship's energy generator, wasting a LOT of power from it
2) The bullets are ammo based.
3) Bullets are designed to Rip through hulls and blunt their ship weak, however, shields' ability to regenerate easily and deflect shots make bullets not very effective against them

Somebody gave the idea of having it ammo-crate based, depending on ship; but then, it would screw up anti-fighter weapons' ammo too, so it would've better if it's gun-based, making AA and fighter guns have high ammo and Artillery and bomber-cannon ones have less.

So, hope you guys like it, post opinions and/or constructive critics.

That's essentially what Hellfire Rockets are, would be nice if they could expand on it but the ammo limit makes them useless really.

There's a problem with bullets, rocks, and other things of this nature.

They don't work well against moving objects, like ships. You want to shoot a base, sure, they'd do perfectly fine. The game effectively makes our ammo act like a bullet, though.

They work wonders against planetary systems, though. Drop a crowbar from orbital speeds, and make it of a material that it won't ablate. Kinetic Energy Weapons - when you care enough to destroy a city but don't want the radiation.

What I'd like to see added are actual light speed weapons - then you don't have to lead the target, like you do with our energy weapons now. Just point, click, and shoot. You see it, you hit it.

I think it would be good.If they manage to implement player docking to player-piloted carriers it would be realy interesting if you have a bunch of VHFs docked inside you, at the start of battle they swarm out of you, do the damage, then dock on carrier again, buy next ammunition and swarm again at your enemies.... Thats a realy nice idea

This seems pretty cool.
It would've like a random stealthily-sent LB carrier in new berlin, when a RM battleship appears, the carrier shots the shield down, then fighters swarm it and eat the armor.
Would've a new teamwork strategy actually:laugh:

I assume there'd be some sort of damage disadvantage or It'll require much more energy?
But either way still a great idea, I'd love to be able to actually hit something for once....

I like the Light-speed weapons idea, it would introduce snipers into the game and help people with practicing aiming;)

it would work like a gun that has a low rate of fire or high energy consuption, but fires a straight beam to where it shoots.

Yes again. Having extremely fast projectiles with huge range would be very OP capital-wise, you can't dodge something flying at 5000Kps in a battleship. It would only be semi-viable as fixed forward guns (think LSC or new hessian BS) which would require steady aim. All in all, these guns would be so OP, they would need serious limitations as to how they can be fired - entire energy reserve for 1 shot, no shield damage, can only be fired while stationary (all the thrusters are used to balance the incredible recoil which would be the same as the impact force[unless we're in Mass Effect universe]).

I don't think bullets would do any difference to caps, caps are already op it would've an even fight:laugh:
But I mean, the disadvantages would work like this:

1) If it's high energy consumption, you'll be only able to fire in short bursts, and you'll have to do it fast before he shield regens, then it gets annoying again.

2) If it's ammo consuming, you would have to rationate it, like missiles, which I find to be pretty good as a missile player, though, running out of it would be REALLY annoying:laugh:

3) if it's got low shield damage, you simply don't use it all the time, you could use debs and then change to the ballistic one, but it would just waste your energy anyways.

I guess those thing would balance it, just like plasma weapons.

And for being stationary.....No....Just ..no.
It would HEAVILY screw up fighters with those, most of the time they're just jousting, and the game's pretty odd, you can be standing still, yet you get a 1m/s speed, so it can mess up and never shoot anything.
