Well I have been around here for ages, just look at my join date: Joined: 12-July 08... coming up on 4 years now. I like this place, I like it even more when it is running smoothly.
Never been sanctioned before either if that matters when choosing someone, and I have a pretty nice grasp of the server and forum rules as well. I fluently speak English and I am in the process of learning French.
I am usually pretty active on the forums, logging in to check things when I have spare time between classes and when I get home from the university. That and I also have a decent eye for spotting off topic rubbish, or I would think so. I have never been a moderator on another website before, but I do co-admin the "Bureau of Supportive Criticism", a small group dedicated to artistic feedback on DeviantArt. It is not fancy, but it is some of the experience I have had running a small organization... this forum is significantly larger, and this would be my first time working on something this big.
That being said, this will be a new thing for me, but I am willing to give it a go.

Having a working knowledge of how to moderate the boards is important, but I believe knowing what to moderate is more so. I personnel have done a little bit of moderating for a couple forums, and have in the past even run a couple forums. Having been a member of the community for the better part of 2 years now I have seen many common instances where Moderators have stepped in. I have also on many a time in that time period, spotted things that needed attention and thus kindly directing those things to the attention of Mods and Admins, where I know there was a valid issue.
There are many reasons that one could press forward for myself in becoming a Moderator, but I would like to be more involved with the forums. The discovery community is such a varied community, and that each and everyone should be able to use the forums again and again in the way that they would like to read the forums. Plain, simple. Calm, comfortable. Easy access and no spam to go through. For me those 6 things are the things that our community desires from the forums, and to be part of ensuring those desires is something that I want to do.
I have been in this community for 4 years and it brought a lot of good and a lot of bad. From 14 years till my nearly 18s. I have raged, been pissed off, been trolled, trolled others, left, returned, but none the less the good moments have always outweighed the bad ones. And I hope the people I interacted with can say the same. Mostly it taught me to respect opinions of others.
I have taken from this community a lot and I think it might be time to give it some back.
I've given a lot of thought to this, a hope that that's apparent on reading. At first I was reluctant to apply, and have considered it in great detail, but the impending deadline has rushed my decision. I also apologise for the wall of text, but there's a large number of things I wanted to mention, and I can't seem to condense it further without missing bits off. Now, without further ado:

I don't consider being a moderator a privilege, and I see nothing to gain personally from it. I do however see it as a responsibility to help the community as a whole and to guide them in a way that leads to a more friendly and harmonious environment for all. Even before considering becoming a moderator, I viewed every post I made with the responsibility not to offend anyone reading it, and to word it as such. A responsibility I believe I have not slipped up on, and shall continue to uphold.
I doubt any of the existing moderation or administrative team know me personally, and I hope that personal views to not come into play when applicants are considered. I instead hope that what I can show as a person through any follow-up that may occur will show you that I take care in what I say, and pride that I am a friendly person and not only take others' views into account, but that I'm not adverse to standing up for what is right and doing what needs to be done should someone be acting in a way that offends someone else.
As far as moderation experience goes, I have no technical experience on a forum, and only a little experience of the job at all. As far as technical experience goes, however, I am a quick learner and tend to get to grips with rapidly. As for moderation experience, it seems rather pointless to mention what I have done, as anyone could say anything here with little to no proof. However I shall regardless, purely for the sake of record, that I was once an admin in a runescape clan, and am currently in the process of reviving said clan. (Don't laugh here, yes, I like runescape, nothing wrong with that!) All I really did was act as a person to step in and stop arguments and people from offending or insulting others by simply telling them off and punishing the few who refused to acknowledge what they did was wrong. As for now, there's no-one actually in the clan, but once I'm back from my holiday, it'll start up again being a community based group of people, focusing of friendship and camaraderie as opposed to any in-game aspects.
As for community involvement, I may not be a long-serving faction member, or indeed terribly active in-game at all over my time here. Recently however, I have joined my first few factions and am beginning to enjoy yet another aspect of the game. I have (despite a few spells of total inactivity due to RL) always been an active member of the forums, and since my return a few months ago, I can safely say not a single day has gone by that I have not checked in on the forums. I am pretty much always available and should I be accepted, will ensure every thread I look at will be viewed as both player and moderator, keeping an eye out for trouble, but not becoming involved where it's not needed.
I am a native English speaker, and am by no means a slouch when it comes to my language. (Heil Hyphen and all that) With the internet, and more relevantly, these forums, having people from many languages using English, I make sure my writing is as correct as possible to avoid confused meanings and mis-interpretations. I am very good at explaining things in plain English, and patient with those who don't understand.
You may have noticed a thread I made for help on this application, and I hope that my efforts in that don't go against me. If anything, I hope it acts as a slight show of my seriousness and commitment to this.
Finally, and to sum up, I'll just say I'm a mature, fair and thoughtful person, who would like the opportunity to show this to you. I expect this application is not the only part of the process, and hope I can demonstrate these qualities over the next step(s) whatever it/they may be.
I'll throw my name in the magic hat. I'm not going to talk about myself. I've spoken to many of you (admins/mods) many times in my time here. You either know me or you don't. If you don't, you know someone who does. You're going to discuss our apps anyways, discuss me there.
Oh. I like cheese so if you pick me, you better darn well stock some cheese in my prison.

Been here for 4+ years, played for a few months before joining forums.
I have been here quite awhile, and should I be wanted to assist i have no problems doing so. The current moderation team is probably overworked to begin with.
I have a strong desire to be impartial in arguments, since i prefer to consider both aspects. I have made a few enemies here, as has anyone i suspect, nobody will ever get along with everyone.
While i have no previous moderation experience, i am willing to be an asset to the community should I be given the chance, and help keep things civil.
Name's Philip, Korny, or just Phil as I prefer it, I'm 20 years young and German, which means I'm not an english native speaker, but I think my skills suffice. Most of you will probably know me, some know me for real, others just know certain rumors, which is fine too in my book. I've been part of this community for about 4 years now, well, 3 years if you take out one year of "self-finding", or whatever you want to call it.
I want to keep this rather short but precise, so I'll cut to the chase. The reason why I'm applying here is probably because I've got a rather big sense of responsibility, even though I don't show it too much. The people who know me for real would know what I mean. I'm a reliable individual when it comes to it. Yes, I'm also known as a bit fiery, or skittish at times, which is perfectly right. The thing is, I actually turn out calm and collected when it counts, on the other hand I'm a bit jumpy and opened up for humor as well, which, I think, makes me an interesting person to be a moderator.
There's quite a few things about this community that I've noticed along the years, which I'd like to prevent, and others I'd like to support, for one I'd like to support the moderator team, since it's necessary to keep a general order around here, which is normal even for not so "big" communities.
I'm fairly active on the forums, and I'm trying to get back ingame from a hiatus I've been on as well. It's not always that easy, of course. We all have a real life to attend to, at this moment I've got a few things going on with school and work, but as I said, I'm reliable when it counts.
That being said, I hope to get the chance to help keeping this place as cool as it is mostly, and maybe better.
