He looked to Mr. Cross, "Nor would TAZ support a formal council so we agree on that."
He then addressed everyone, "Sure, we can meet from time to time. Never a problem however just meeting and discussing matters without offering solution is sort of purpose defeating. Should we nominate and appoint certain Zoners to address certain matters for us all? How often should we get back together? These are things to consider."
Mikrosh stands up and looks around, facing every person at the table.
Gentlemen, I am confused... Anyone here knows what they want? Anyone here got an idea of why we all gathered here?
Correct me if I am wrong, but for me this meeting seems to be nothing more than a long diner. We all gathered here only for the food and some small talk?
I see that people here are afraid of a new form of alliance between the zoner groups. Some of you here talk about "zoners being free" therefore any kind of alliance, pact or council will fail, because zoners are free people..
We are free people indeed, but how free are we? Aren't most of you here leaders of a zoner group? How can you state that zoners are free if you lead your people? How would be a zoner council any different of your own leadership?
How do you expect us to succeed if you are afraid to work together?
I agree with you that the old council failed at some points, but was that the first form of "government", if it can be named that way, was it the first one to fail? I ensure you gentlemen that it was not. We have tested all kind of "governments" along the history of mankind, most of them failed. But, did mankind ever stopped to build new ones? No! Because we are weak as individuals, that is why we group ourselves, we stick together and that way we evolve.
I suggest you all to rethink about a new "council" or a new "alliance". We need something to keep us together, we need something to help us improve our relationships, we need something to help us survive.
I don't suggest you all to accept a new form of government similar to the house governments. But, I suggest you all to think, to work together, and together we can come up with something that might help us all, zoners and mankind.
If you plan to do nothing more than just gather here for a meal, and only chit chat about things without doing anything to help your people, our people, the zoners from all around sirius then, count me out.
I intend not to offend your food Mr Holiday, but I prefer to eat synthetic paste close to my people, and work side by side with them, and actualy do something than gather here, eat luxury food and do nothing.
We have accomplished nothing here yet. We've talked about certain topics, some of them of major importance, but we did nothing to solve them or to stop them from repeating.
He takes a small brake, facing everyone again, trying to read their reactions.
I ask you again gentlemen, why have we gathered here?
Hearing Mikrosh speak, Victor has a confused expression on his face.
How does having a leader prevent any of our various groups from being free, Mikrosh?
My employees are free to go where they want, when they want. OSI merely brokers the contracts and manages the business aspects so that the captains can captain their ships without worrying about a mess of paperwork. If they can't comply with the few policies we have, nothing prevents them from breaking their contract with the company and quitting.
Gesturing at Doc John doesn't lead the TAZ because he has the biggest gun, but because the members of the TAZ freely accept him as their leader and guide.
Standing, Victor looks around the room at the various station administrators They were elected to their leadership positions.
We've succeeded perfectly fine without a Council or Alliance for a long time and the Zoner community survived even longer before either of those organizations were formed.
All we need to keep us together and help improve our the relations between our various groups is communication. We do not need a central authority to survive. As for what we've accomplished here?
Walking over and placing his hand on the shoulder of Maximus
The rift between my company and the Phoenix has been closed; a rift that was created by the failure of the Alliance need I remind you. I've learned a great deal about the Phoenix and about you Obsidians.
Not huge accomplishments, but things I came here to do or learn. I can agree that the discussion so far has been all over the place and not focused at all; with that in mind. What is it that you think we need to solve?

"Mr. Mikrosh," began Doc, "we have accomplished something already." He then pointed into the air and starting doing a circle with his hand, motioning to all those present, "we have gotten together, something that hasn't happened in a good while now." He put his hands on the podium.
"We have agreed that we should have other meetings in the future. As Mr. Cross said, OSI and Pheonix have ironed out some differences and at some point of this meeting, Mr. Cross and I will have done the same. Friends we are but differences we have."
"Mr. Mikrosh, we don't have to settle everything here today," he continued, "we won't settle the matter of the Core, Order and Zoners in Minor today but we have put it on the table. We don't have enough pieces of that puzzle to finish it. While we have addressed the Molly blockade of our jumphole to Dublin, it isn't something that is as big a concern as we first thought. That is something that we can address as needed because right now, we aren't being blocked. Some allies? Yes but I will personally take a list and speak with them. Mollys can be reasonable......especially when you consider Dublin Molly space as I do."
He then took a drink to wet his palate, "Now, if we wish to meet again and break for now, where should we host the next one and who should we have moderate? I do suggest we do so sooner than later and see what other information we can gather for it."
Mikrosh stands up again, to defend and clarify he's point.
Mr Victor, you didn't get my point. Most of us here are leaders of a group of zoners. We lead them, yet they are free people, we don't lead them as house leaders do. We price the individual freedom, yet we form small communities with a leading body.
Why would be any different if, the group formed by all the groups would have a similar leading body? Why do people believe that if we have a leading body, a pact or an alliance, we will automatically loose our freedom... I see no diference between a Council and every group's individual's leading body.
I believe that "we" are afraid of a leading body because we don't trust each other...
He stops for a few seconds.
Mr Victor, Mr Holiday, even though you might think that the zoners have done well without a council, we are not!
Zoners have lost their respect, more and more factions start to hate the zoners, they envy us or hate us for certain reasons. Most of the reasons they hate us are mistakes from our side, from our own people's side. Some of our groups or individuals have done things that have stained our name.
Lately, people have start to name us by groups, the idea of zoners, is slowly fading away. We are separate and split all over the Sirius, thing that makes us weak! If we are united, people will think twice before they would try to profit from us.
If the rest of the systems knows that we are Zoners, we are united, If they know that harming a group of our kind, they will have to deal with the entire zoner community, they will think twice...
And, how about our installations? How long do you think that our installations will survive out there on their own? We need to work together...
A council, won't have to be a ruthless leading body, a leading body should serve it's community, a council should act as a beacon of our unity, of our fraternity... A council should be more like a symbol, and all that should change for our kind would be the addition of a guide-line, a guide-line to prevent other events as the Freeport 11 one... Nothing more, a guide-line for a beacon of hope...
The council might not even be an actual council, maybe only in the eyes of the rest, for us should change nothing of importance. But people need to know that we are united, we need to work together somehow, and take care of our own, we need to wash the name of our ancestors, for it was stained.
And, the most important for us now, a council will be the living proof that we have settled our internal affairs, a proof that we can work together, that we trust each other, a proof that we are proud to be called zoners!
Gentlemen...the fact that we have met is the step Zoner community didn't make for some time and that's the purpose of this conference. The purpose was to bring the Zoner groups together - to know each other and to make the first step in working with each other rather then looking suspicious on each other. We have done it. Some of us decided to leave and stay free in his own way , those who left decided that they don't need others in matter of their survival. We should respect that. As for those who stayed - we, The leaders and administrators of Zoner groups and instalations managed to gather here after years of selfish existance apart. This was a small step towards future when Zoners will be united. As I see that not possible in this instance - I hope that day will come. And isn't that hope worth a try?
I say it is.
As for the leadership and leading body limiting freedom. Like previous speakers stated we as leaders of our groups don't limit the freedom of our members - they can leave whenever the want - the fact that they follow our guidence and our goals is because they choose to. Forming anything that will force others to follow the same goal even if they won't support it won't unite us. Forming a council that will be used via democracy to lead the Zoners won't work because we are diffrent - we live in diffrent space and democracy here won't work. We don't need a body that will state ONE way that all groups should follow - what we need is a place where we can discuss and sort matters within Zoners working together - Zoner Council used to have control over Zoner resources - as some of the ideas there were good - it was used against us. And do we really care about those who hate us ? Do we really want to show them that we are one so they can blame everything into one direction? Do we really want to give those who don't care about us a body to adress their problems? I say the fact that everyone here can maintain their own diplomacy a good thing. We survived years now without leading body. We managed to maintain the stations and survive ...<Maximus stops for a second> in hazardous space of Edge and Border worlds. I say the purpose of this meeting and those which will follow is to gather and discuss matters that will be effecting Zoners Sirius-wide. Even if these meetings will mean no more then just expressing diffrent opinions and stating our minds it's worth sharing our ideas. It will bring us together - slowly but via these small steps we will eventualy unite and some day maybe we will be ready to form something that will be able to work as a Zoners leading body - this conference isn't for this purpose.
As for the next meeting < Maximus looks over to Mr Holliday> I have contacted the Phoenix leadership members and we have decided that if everyone here agrees we would like to make the first step towards ending the secrets. We would like to host the next meeting at Siberia Hideout in Sigma 17. That is Phoenix base hidden deep in the dark space of Sigma. If you agree we will work out a way to move all of us there without causing much traffic and attention - the more attention we get the more likely the base will be noticed by those who might seek it's failure - I won't accept that - thus we probably will try to make a space jump directly to our base but planning that will come after we decide either we want another conference and when we want it. For now let's focus on this very meeting.
Rhyme raised a finger, signaling an enthusiastic desire to posit a piping (steaming, perhaps) notion to the assembled table.
Mayhap, afor we conclude this meeting and ponder the place settings and napkin colors of the next we can conclude the projected schedule of this one. If this meeting is to be the first of many to come I imagine setting a tone that accomplishes more than promoting deep sleep is in order.
Mr. Holliday, you mentioned something about Gallia at the outset of this shindig. Is there something you wished to broach concerning that nation or is the intent to simply re examine the some of us hate them and their whore princess and some of us don't give a **** about their whore princess but like their money dynamic. Something new, perhaps?
