Now i have no problem with pirates and its a nice pass time and all but PLEASE learn to RP. Saying that sentence and then shooting in the matter of seconds is the same thing as saying ENGAGING ENGAGING. At least give me some time, 30 seconds? I mean you don't see bunters (or i hope non of you do this) CD a pirate and then say you're bountied die!, not gonna give any huh? and start shooting in a matter or 30 seconds from first CD the guy. No no no, you make conversation aka RP and give a guy a chance to catch their breath/have a choice.
Make something more creative that is not like saying ENGAGING and I'll be happy. And no, don't say you cant type fast enough and the trader will run away... as a pirate or bounty hunter (i do/did both) i know you can spill a few sentences fast enough while CDing.
Thanks for copying my post.... and i do RP when i pirate *cough cough* i guess from your point of view im one of the little few right?
Only problem with traders that i have is when they are scilent and then start randomly opeing fire at me without saying so and running (forcing me to kill him), starts running when i warned him not to move or he will die (forcing me to kill him). Lack of co-operation you see is the problem with many traders.

Nope. From my point of view you're just someone who's trying to generalize every bounty hunter or merc under "pvpwhore lolwuts" category.
Pirate, Bunter, Navy, Rogue, Sair, Merc, Zoner, etc... Each and every ID you see in game has all types of players flying it. From complete lolwuts and "No-RP pvpwhores" to "No-PvP rpwhores" and so on. Just because you didn't like your encounter with a bunter or two, doesn't give you the right to insult everyone who play any sort of bounty hunter char by posting pointless rant threads such as this one.

Rules-wise, no; iRP, the majority of bunters wouldn't even go that far and at most would shove a warrant in your direction and proceed to start ripping you a new one without so much as a word through comms.
Are you allowed to do that if you are a hunter then? Where in the rules does it say hunters have a privilege of doing so?

I guess what I said was unclear. When I said "Rules-wise, no" I meant it as in no you can't do that, I was agreeing with you. The point I was making however, wast that more talk does not necessarily mean better RP.

In my recent time pirating, i only met one trader who even bothered to RP with me. The rest kept trying to run, and fired first without any RP first.
While im not saying all traders are no-rp lolwuts, the majority I have encountered have been like that.
I had more RP, and great RP i might add, from a freelancer who wanted to claim the bounty on me.
The trouble is, lolwuts breed more lolwuts. On both sides. Kind of a chicken and the egg scenario.

Rule wise th trader does not have to respond with words, as the RP portion was completed by yourself. Hence you /pirate/rogue whatever saying "if you do not pay me i will kill you" you have started the engagement. The trader does not have to say " ok pirate, i will not pay you, instead i am now going to fire, get ready" That would just be stupid. At present the pirates already have the advantage over traders as a bomber or GB, and even lolwut cruiser pirates can over welm a trader easy. So by trader firing as his answer it allowed by rules, and may actually allow him the chance to cause some damage, and throw pirate off guard enough to get away.
That is something most pirates fail to understand. It is not the trader responibility to pay you, he is supposed to at all costs deliver his cargo, and pay you only as a last resort.
So true life story for you.
Driving a truck in NY a few years back($100.00 bonus just to enter NY) at around 4:00AM going down some avenue. Come up to a light that is green, but 2 other trucks zip across infront of me through the red(no one stops in NY at night) so i had to gear down, lock brakes. Some guys jumps onto side step of truck, and taps a knife on passinger side window(obviously to rob me, steel what is in back) Do you think i rolled the window down to chat? Or ask him what he wanted? NO! i skimmed a light post removing him, and my mirror. Then proceeded to police to report it. Filed a report, washed off blood, and delivered my load.
So why in a game where no real lives are in danger should a trader not shoot, or run without a word? just because it is not your type of RP does not mean it is not the traders.

Well, life-wise you are totally right, I can't make any objections, even if I want to.
As for in-game situations, it's not so easy to understand what are intentions of another player. Why isn't he answering to you? Is he AFK, sneezing just now, can't understand what do you want from him? Is he a one-finger typer or he just sees MMO RP game as a single player game, where everything spins around him. It's impossible to know what is "silent trader" doing - having some tea, writing an answer or gathering a torch mob of his Skype-buddies. All psychics are on vacation, you know.
There is a /setmsg command (Developers team thank you), and it fits for such situations. Just two messages will do - "Don't shoot, I'll comply" and "Get lost. Man all turrets". /setmsg - takes almost no time, clearly shows your intentions and reduces probability of Sanctionlancing for both sides.
All above is just my point of view, I'm not stating that it is final and absolute truth.
I'd say most bunters (not all) are right at the same level as the worst pirates (/setmsg pirates) when it comes to RP (or lack of).
I had a run-in with a BHG| hunter yesterday that came to the Taus to kill poorly equipped new players - I intervened in a Dreadnought, and the BHG| dude went on a trash-talking spree not shutting up and not disengaging. He kept trash-talking and he kept fighting the newbie player (who I kept feeding regens) within range of my guns until his Orca exploded.
Maybe he RP'ed a complete maniac so hellbent on killing unlawful scum that he is totally self-destructive - but then again would the guild really hire a guy that's so dim-witted and costly in gear, going up against dreadnoughts alone in his little gunboat when he has every chance to avoid confrontation and getting popped?
All the RP I got from him (and most hunters) was /setmsg RP and a barrage of trash talk, and really it's getting old (the trash talk). It doesn't constitute RP in my book, but I know it lives up to the server minimum requirements (and only that). What is also striking is how some people always enter trash talk mode if other players are flying a bigger ship than them - it's incredibly out-of-character (like how often did you see Luke Skywalker hail the Death Star to whine about its size? Or how often is Al-Qaeda phoning the White House all teary-eyed to complain that the US have Carriers in the region?).
I think what some pirates and most hunters need to realize is that RP is not a means to an end (the 2mil or blue msg)- RP should be the goal itself!

Just so happens most hunters RP is to murder folk for sizable amounts of credits. Seems like he was roleplaying just fine to me. And I probably wouldn't go on about how lame someone is when you admit to feeding a fighter from a capital ship.
