Good evening, Disco. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of the everyday routine, the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration - whereby those important events of the past, usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, are celebrated with a nice holiday - I thought we could mark this November the fifth, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.
There are, of course, those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now orders are being shouted into Skype chats and mods with topic locks will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this server, isn't there?
Cruelty and apathy...intolerance and trolling. And where once you had the freedom to play, to fly and pew as you saw fit, you now have Devs and systems of balancing, coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they may be held accountable. But again, truth be told...if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? Nomads. Phantoms. Wilde. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your hard earned credits. Fear got the best of you and in your panic, you turned to the devs. They promised you order. They promised you balance. And all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.
Last month, I sought to end that silence. Last month, I destroyed the way the K'hara used to do things to remind this community of what it has forgotten. More than four years ago, a great player wished to embed the terror of the nomads forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the community that nomads, aliens and protagonists are more than over powered lasers and nimble fighter-craft - they are a rich and motivating device for survival. So if you've seen nothing, if the failures of these successive nerfs to the mods plot driving protagonists remain unknown to you, then I would suggest that you allow this thread to pass unreplied.
But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek...then I ask you to stand beside me, this weekend, outside the gates of Iota. And together, we shall give them an event that shall never, ever, be forgot!
Meh. Just meh. Wilde have themselves to thank for the balancing - they know why. Could go into detail but the forum search will do. And with the Nomad ID going open (I believe that was your brainchild, Huggs?) leaving its tech drastically more powerful then that of Core or Order wouldn't have made the Nommicrons fun to play in. Not to mention caused the inevitable abuse of a "nom" group of players plopping a base down somewhere in Penn or such, and launch raids from there (kinda surprised that hasn't happened yet). Nomad tech -is- still more powerful then Sirian tech and will remain so. The drawback: Restricted ZoI and almost nowhere to dock. That'll also remain that way.

@Huggie: Ah... you finally got to your point, which is the usual complaining about the fact that your guns and ships arent as overpowered as you want them to be midway into paragraph 3. Please, can you really try to get to the point faster instead of wasting people's time with 2.5 paragraphs totally devoid of content before getting to the point? Thanks.

If I understood correctly you think that the inactivity in the omicrons is due to the fact that the evil devs took yer pistols?
Frankly, no, I dont think so. It may be the reason for your own inactivity, but not that of other people. Most others' is because everything is too far apart now and people don't wanna have to travel for hours. And because the K'Hara are unable to organize themselves into greater numbers, but still want the main gear to be closed and just for them. And because they scream at single order fighters who approached their 3 marduks for ganking and oorp alliances and tell them that the admins will do their job and find them out, because some bounty hunters that they don't even know allegedly logged on in another system same time as them (which must have been 20 minutes before that).
About your phantasies of superiority through greater ships and striking terror into people's hearts...
Speaking for myself, and I think also for a lot of other people, I'd say that...
When I see someone with a ship that is grossly overpowered compared to mine and I am forbidden from getting that ship myself, I dont think: "Oh my god I am so terrorized because that guy is so awesome and I feel so inferior to him".
I think: "How lame."
And as I gather, devs nerfed the nomads because giving a closed group of chosen players gear against which other players have no chance is just that: lame.
You wanna impress people?
Do it with with greater skill, and the ability to organize yourselves in greater numbers, and not by complaining that you cant have more cake than everybody else.
If that's your intent with what ever upcoming event you are talking about, please do so. If you're planing a nomad "we want better gear" ***"we" want better "gear" (for the K'hara)*** protest sit-in, then omg.
