RM ships are about as newb friendly as they come.
I've explained before that a newb in an RM BS will easilly kill a newb in an LN Dread.

LN ships are harder to use at an average level than most RM ships are. About the only advantage we do have is the LABC and thats purely due to the fact you don't have one.

As for adding numbers to peoples name how would that help in the slightest? People arn't that easily satisfied, and it will only lead to more confusions with tags.

We've already narrowed it down to a problem of Leadership not a problem of indies.
