Maybe if I disabled the current overclocking from 3,3GHz back to 1,87GHz and lowered the maximum player limit back to 60, you'd realise what this is about.
We can't live without overclocking with current amount of players on the server...
Hmm Quad Core is good for when their is alot of stress and muli-tasking is needed. Dual core and the like they are good for servers . Its the peak hrs when the most players are on . The days when you need that extra bit of juice. Tigerdirect has some nice barebones kits and alot of companies that build some nice stuff.
' Wrote:E8400 CPU runs at 3GHz Stock, why would you want to overclock it that much? Its just mean!
These guys are nutcases with Liquid Nitro/water cooling etc and dont use their insanely overclocked CPU as a server.
You probably know what you're doing, but for a 24/7 server maybe leaving it at stock speeds would eliminate the possiblilty of hardware crashes?
I have one of these monsters, possibly the best 140 quid i have spent in a long time. Its fast enough without overclocking IMO.
Server load is rather high as of late. Getting the most out of the CPU is necessary. Unless you want us to leave it stock, and cut the player limit to 64.
OC is what allowed us to up the player limit to 128 without wasting a lot of money on a faster processor. If you knew how processors are made and certified, you would understand why some overclock well, and other doesn't.

(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Increasing CPU-Power might prove beneficial for our GamePlay in the near future.
Hopefully all goes well - considering a Max-Players limit increase Testing -
i'd suggest a slight increase for start [like 144 - 152] to see how it works.
