Is there a better background story for the junkers rather than what's on the wiki? the wiki has a paltry description for the junkers while all the other factions have paragraphs. if someone could link me to something more thorough than the wiki i would be most grateful.
Hmmm, my only suggestion is reading what they have on the Junkers Congress.

isn't the junker congress a player faction? i'm looking for the npc faction background more so than a story written by a player, although i will still take a look.
I know, but they are the ones evolving the Junker RP, so I am pretty sure that they have added enough about the factions present, future as well as past.

so i just read the junker congress on the forum and the wiki and the junker background is still a bit obscure. the gist of what i got was they're making a government system for the junkers.
Then I suppose the only other idea is to simply use rational thought, access the info you already have, such as diplomatic ties (or the lack of), bases, general population, ship descriptions...
Just see them as you wish to see them. That's what I do with the Rogues.

A background isn't entirely necessary with the Junkers. Somewhere along the line, the devs decided we were ex-spies from Gallia, then we made our own way of life after that. From there, the Junkers made a living by dealing with the large amounts of scrap left in space from battles.
Due to the seclusion of their bases in the scrap fields, the Junker were able to conduct some shady business without many people knowing about it (or at least without being able to pin anything on the Junkers).
From there on, it's up to you how your Junker operates.
The Congress operates as a sort of mafia. We put up a reasonable lawful appearance to give us maximum freedom in house space (letting us call upon house navies for support). When no one is looking, we do all sorts of dastardly deeds. We steer away from 2milordie piracy, as we prefer to pirate those who really deserve it (or enemies/troublemakers). Our unlawful actions usually have a greater purpose than just making money.
Of course there are people who disagree with our methods and think we should just be out pirating and smuggling, but think it would be a massive waste of our quasi lawful status.
yeah the description from the ships is what i used to generate my character background. honestly i think someone should tredge through the history of all the factions and piece together the junker background from that and from the ships. i would do that myself but i dont have the time.
edit: thanks crackpunch, that's more information than what the wiki/playerfaction information gives. that will come in handy as i mold my character's life/story.
Every Junker really has its own background. You may be from a Congress family. You may be someone who just put a ship together from scrap, and as such became a junker. You may be a miner, that mines junk. And so on and so on. It is 1 of a very small group of factions where you can make up any background you want for your char. You can sort of say no 2 junkers are the same, but stick together because of similar interests, and life styles, and for strength in numbers.
What Ryoken said here.
Faction RP is just a general idea for you to follow. Your character is your own and his or her development is completely up to you and may or may not fall in line with traditional fation roleplay.
Take Narcotic's LR-Serious.Pacifist, it's a Rogue who is against violence. It doesn't really follow the idea of Rogues being a bunch of scary pirates, but hey, it's what makes -your- character unique.
I have a Junker who was a brilliant inventor that got kicked out of Cambridge for performing dangerous experiments. He nearly blew up his faculty when he modified his hoverbike to house deuterium power converters. So yeah,he's really just a well learned inventor who wants independence from rules and regulations, not really in line with traditional Junker lore.
