Before we get to how to obtain said ID, let’s go through some explanation of intents. Take a moment to read the above lore guide to catch you up on the current state of affairs as described by one of our resident loremasters, if you’re unfamiliar with said state of affairs.
That done, let’s see the ID text as it reads in game:
Quote:Nomad ID
Pilot carrying this ID is a Nomad, who:
Can freely engage any ship - except other Nomad or Wild player ships, in the Omicrons, except for Omicron Alpha and Omicron Gamma.
Because people actually read these explanations as exemplified by the last rule thread, we’re going to break this down line by line and confuse everyone.
Quote:Can freely engage any ship - except other Nomad or Wild player ships, in the Omicrons, except for Omicron Alpha and Omicron Gamma.
Yep. The worst has happened, we’ve provided for another open engagement ID. That’s right, fire away, no roleplay is required, although it certainly is encouraged. The Order, and BHG Core also have corresponding lines in their IDs, so give those a look too when you have a moment. These three are designed to fit together in a way that will, hopefully, allow for a more full realization of just how dangerous the Omicrons can be. Order and Core, I hope you guys are up for some action, after which you’ll be in range to shoot each other. What’s not to like?
All except in Alpha and Gamma, though. Nomad ID bearing players must meet the roleplay requirements established by the rules in at least these two systems.
Quote:Cannot leave the Omicrons.
Ah, but there’s the caveat. Although Nomads can freely engage, they are bound to stay in systems that have “Omicron” in their name. This isn’t an “Oh, I can leave with a K’Hara player, right?” or the normal “We can be out of our normal ZoI so long as we’re not instigating, right?” You can leave only for ship setup, but we want to keep the players with this ID to the Nomad Worlds for now. For those desiring a wider ZoI to take their Nomad show on the road, we still have the Nomad Trial ID available, and looking to join the K’Hara might be the better option for you. Weigh the pros and cons and see what balances out.
Quote:Cannot demand credits.
This one’s pretty straightforward. Public nomads will not be getting into credit piracy. You’re there to make space dangerous, not be a pickpocket. However, roleplaying out cargo acquisition might be a fun route in many cases. Be creative, and see where it takes you.
Quote:Cannot land anywhere except Nomad bases.
Again, pretty simple. The bases Nomad ID’d players can land on are:
The Ravine (99)
Altair Research Complex (Iota)
Hur-Durriken Dur-Shurrikun (Iota)
Although this should be easy enough to manage, as rephacks have been set to prevent landing elsewhere. On that note, as with the other Nomad IDs, you’re red hostile to everything, except the Wild, which their bases are outside the Omicrons and thus you shouldn’t be there normally anyhow.
So, there you go. I’m sure there will be more questions, so please be sure to have read thoroughly before asking and I’m going to go off on a bit of a ramble because I’m pretty sure I’m just talking to myself at this point. I spent this morning watching World Order videos again and I’m convinced the Japanese will end up taking over the world someday. It’ll be like in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. You know, the one where the Futurians come back in time to stop Japan from becoming too powerful by trying to replace Godzilla with King Ghidorah? Yeah, it was pretty lame, but King Ghidorah is awesome. On that note, I recommend Giant Monsters All-Out Attack which I believe was produced in the early 2000s. So bad it’s good, I promise. Hi Karlotta. Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.
Those more attentive might note that the Nomad ID isn’t sold on any public bases (Admins get all the Noms. Bi[A]s.). Those even more attentive might have noticed that there’s been a Nomad restart added to the server (again, since Friday night GMT), which drops you in a Camera Ship on The Ravine with 25,000 credits, proper reps, and your shiny Nomad ID. (It’s not really shiny. I don’t know how to do that in game. But it works just as if it were shiny, so pretend. For my sake.)
I’d ask that criticisms be witheld from getting too vehement until the criticiser has had a chance to experience the ID or interacting with someone with the ID first, but I know that won’t happen.
Read the lore guide, go set up a ship, and above all, have fun.
Yes, this was the announcement referenced in the rule update earlier this week.

Aaaargh! After a lot of flying, checking, mathematics, etc. I just found the "Unknown gate" in Kansas on the Sirius server. WOW, good of me!
Then I decided to check forum to see why the Discovery server is down only to find this message. I'm a bit disappointed. But OK, that is my bad luck

If you kept at it, you would have made K'hara. This Open ID gets the tech you are looking for though I suppose..
Open ID.. *grumble* *grumble* *grumble*
Well i might actually go join the K'Hara.
This open ID has made me comeback. Not for the ID but for the foolish idea of making it public.
I will not go for the foolish public id but for the K'Hara.
What do you think?
Is recruitment open at the moment?

Good luck mate.
It's open but full at the moment, you'll be placed in a queue if you ask Nosferath to join.
