Wow. I came here to have a little fun outside of real life. Just posted this on my lunch break and already catching flak. This is an anal place. If I want to argue with a bunch of people online, I'll go to huffington post.

Second bad impression.
You don't seem to realize that people around here might even want to help you out and give you some hints, just as already done.
Good start would be mentioning what ID you will want to use.
Also, feel free to go to 'Huffington Post', there's the door.
I am a die hard star trek fan. Having said that, it seems that all and any attempts to meld, merge, assimilate and combine the trek with freelancer meets utter and absolute failure. It does have a tendency to draw in hard core fans of the genre like myself. I have seen quite a few proposals for trek influence factions, systems, locations, mods and etc...But unfortunately it is rarely able to make any head way. Star Trek has star trek online..and we all know, it sucks really bad. If only they had been smart and done it FL style, but they didnt. But thats the beauty of FL and DFL, in that it is similar, yet unique to its own factions, histories, and circumstances. Your best bet is to take all of that trek knowledge and experience and cut loose the enterprise while in FL mode, and simply draw from that knowledge base to bolster your FL abilities and own unique game play experience. For instance, i was able to escape an ambush recently from players of an enemy faction using a cloak. It is not exactly like in ST but you will find that embracing the way FL does its own thing presents new tactics to consider, and new challenges to overcome in the space combat world. It also requires a lot of time in and hard work and figuring out the ins and outs of this particular lay out.
It also doesnt seem like you read the rules on faction creation, it requires a lot more information and credits to get started, and would require the use of an already existing NPC faction ID, as in, you'd have to link your new faction though an NPC one. Don't be too discouraged, not saying this is impossible but it will take a bit more time and research to get it right! keep playing and learning about everything FL and in particular the environment that is Sirius, and you'll realize it is its own form of star trekking that is wonderful unto itself!

And a lot of help they're being, jumping this right off the get-go. But anyways to answer your question, it's still a work in progress, but we were thinking Zoner ID, since they are neutral with everyone. And by the way, bad impressions are a double edged sword. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the tip. As I said earlier it's still a work in progress. Getting it figured out as we go. Much like the actual trek. They were in unknown areas a lot, kinda had to figure things out as they went along. I appreciate the helpful advice.
Your problem here is thinking that you can curse around at will, disregarding player feedback on subject you unfortunately have absolutely no idea about just yet.
You are being bombarded with negative feedback but you have not noticed: all faction creators/leaders already have some experience which you currently lack, given you are incapable to even tell which ID your faction will be using.
My own advise: do not try to import anything as it will end in pain, be creative and figure out an idea by yourself. Do not create a faction just for sake of being in command and instead join already established faction to see actually well how succesful factions work before you even attempt to make your own.
Imports are bad for disco, because most of the time they just don't fit the lore.
Take a look at this for example. It didn't matter how well written the faction was, the idea was rejected by the community. I feel bad for Skynet's incredible effort being shot down, but an import like that just wouldn't work.
Also, think that you cannot force your RP to others, your chances of solving a potentially hostile ingame incident via diplomacy are slim, specially if you are not involved directly. I'd suggest taking a look at the communication section of the forums to have a better idea on how diplomacy works in disco. (I call it kindergarden politics)
Finally, if you are going to include military protection, I'd suggest not using the Zonerzonerzoner ID. Freelancer ID would be better imo, as it allows escorting traders and defending them.
To be a little more constructive, the main problem with imports is that they do not fit into the current Discovery lore. In your initial "Captain's Log" thread, the existence of some new Sol empire didn't make sense. There was only a short time - a couple of weeks or months - between the five sleeper ships (the four houses we know and the Hispania, not the Gallia, which was launched a little later) launching and the Nomads coming to destroy Sol.
The time for imports was back when Disco was less serious about these things a few years ago. The main example I know is what used to be =BSG= as a direct import who then had their lore tied into something that makes sense along with Disco without changing things overly much. You'll find them as the Colonial Republic, with their (currently used) lore here.
However, this idea isn't even lore-breaking, just a little unoriginal with the name. This would depend on how you RP it, as people who just happen to have the same name as Starfleet or are actually convinced they are from Star Trek (maybe they have amnesia and watched a boxset afterwards). I think that is how people consider the Klingon commander of FP6, as being a rather large Zoner with a few delusions.
Worry not, fun can be found in things native to freelancer. Just don't let the seemingly unfriendly environment drive you away. This community isn't as bad as it may look. Although, to continue on the starfleet path would be a bit stubborn.
At least we can't ostracise you for faulty grammar and spelling mistakes. Something I've experienced...
