I can only speak for me here, but yeah, I use Photoshop for prolly anything I do. Except the layout and design of newspapers and magazine, InDesign is the program for that.

Edit: Also where do you get all of the pictures?

Mostly stock sites, the usual google search or (in my case) deviantArt. You have to be careful though: as long as you're designing for private use only there shouldn't be any problems. As soon as it becomes commercial though (or if you create an artwork with ressources that are not your own) you have to ask the original creater for allowance.
