EDIT: They don't REFILL used plastic bottles. They recycle them.

That would be terribly gross, regardless of what solvents they used to clean it.

Depends really. You have 2 types of PET bottles, one use (which are obviously recycled) and the multiple use ones. (These are refilled) You can easily tell which is which by looking at the wear and tear. For beer bottles (Glass bottles) they refill an average of 10 to 35 times.

That's insane. I don't want a bottle that has been on the lips of 35 other people, regardless what was used to clean it.

I'm switching to cans. They have to recycle those at least.
