Id like some admins views on this to be honest, this has been brought up allot over the last few weeks and the problem just keeps getting worse and worse and no admin has said anything or joined in the discussions about it, something needs to be done before the RPers leave and your left with a "Void" server.

Cost is not the issue with cap ships. neither is firepower or their defense against attacks. its the way they are being used and how many there are. cost has proved to be of no object to many players in the game, and won't stop the issue.
Unless we get a more enforced Anti-independent-cap-ship-whore-system (A.I.C.S.W.S.), they have control over the problem.
Ban, kick, avoid, kill, fine, even recruit. everything necessary to get them out of here.

Amen. If, as it seems to me, the community wants this to be an RP server, it must police itself.
We play an extreme variation of what 'normal' freelancer is. Anything that does not RP should not be allowed. People will say that RP is different to different people. here's my stance: RP is the same at its root. Each ship has a pilot, and each pilot has a history, a personality, and if someone has not thought that out for their pilot, they have no business playing here. We are an English speaking server for that reason: if you cannot communicate with us, you cannot RP with us. If you cannot RP with us, you have no business playing on our server.
As for changing capships, in any way, that solution fails. It is not a solution. Capships have been changed, and things are getting worse.
Independants: for the main House factions (LPI, LSF, LN, BAF, BPA, RM, RFP, KSP, KNF) all people in these factions fall under a direct chain of command. If turkish has the support of the community to RP the admiral of the LN, or Virus the support of the community to RP the Chancellor, Then they essentialy own the indies who choose to RP as members of their factions. These people, by RPing members of factions with militaristic chains of command, fall under the command of the factions. The rest of the factions are something more nebulant, more describable as cultures than factions, and one can be a member of a culture without falling under anyone's command. As for the Corporate factions, each are describable as firms, or branches of their parent NPC group, and independents can not easily be said to be subject to the rules of the dominant RP faction of that affiliation.

I think the way to approach this is to adopt a strategy to very strongly steer players to existing offical factions. Some stick, but mostly carrot.
I agree, and that means steering them that way when they are "young enough" on Disco that they haven't gotten a rotten leaning in another direction already, but "old enough" that they don't make a rash decision to join a faction that they quit a few days later.
The only thing I can think of regarding this is for clan members to make a greater effort to "adopt" non-clan players and show them the ropes. If you hear someone asking about "good trade routes for newbies" invite them along on yours. If you see someone flying around in a defender, the LSF or SA should invite them to go on a patrol, etc etc. If you see an independent pirate, invite them to pirate with you. Involve them in the server RP ASAP, and do it pro-actively.

You guys need to calm down and realize that not everyone on Earth is an ace RP'er and knows every single thing that happens on these forums. Yes it's a shame there's fools flying around in capital ships shooting up NY, so handle it like you should and report them.
Instead you're all having a fit about independents being bad RP'ers and how they have no business playing in factions without being a member of a clan. Some saying they shouldn't even play on the server if they don't play YOUR way. Take a deep breath and listen to yourselves.

You have a point. I remember noobness. Not so long ago, really.
Today I have seen 2 Xenos dock on a Rogue base, The same Corsair Dread killed 3 times in Liberty along with a Corsair Cruiser and 2 GB's, swearing, total OORP blah blah blah!
Of course it works both ways, the amount of Cap whores is stunning. Yet kick the lawful ones out of Liberty and we have no defense against the unlawfuls that attack regulary and vica versa. The solution? Only official factions and independants with Admin approval should be allowed to operate Capital class ships. I for one am sick of the sight of all these warships that spawn more and more large warships in retaliation. It's a capital ship arms race thats just beyond boring.

I never said it was. What's elitist is the attitude people have when someone doesn't do things the right way, or THEIR way. Read a bit of the above posts.
