Idun is short and slender - not uncommon traits for a space pilot. Clothing is in a battered mix of dark greys and greyish browns: sturdy boots, reinforced trousers, an armored jacket, sturdy gloves. A plain gray cloth mask covers Idun's mouth, nose, and throat; a metal plate that might be an armored eyepatch and might be a preysight unit covers Idun's left eye from cheakbone to eyebrow. The thin wires that can be seen exiting the jacket's left wrist and connecting to the gun interface unit on the left glove, and that sometimes are visible over the mask, suggest the latter. There is a high-caliber automatic in a holster on the left thigh.
Idun's voice is harsh and sexless with a slight metalic timbre, suggestive of extensively rebuilt vocal cords. Significant and disfiguring damage to the throat or jaw might explain the mask, but you'd have to wait until it came off (everyone has to eat) to know for sure.
What little of Idun's face is visible has the following characteristics:
-fair skin with some freckels, visible pores, and a few old scars.
-dark brown hair cut very close to the head. In a row, facing backwards, Idun has shaved three interlocking triangles down to the scalp. If asked, Idun denies any significance beyond aesthetics.
Distingushing features: Grey eyes. Light brown hair, crewcut except at the back, tumblign curls down to waist. Solidly built. Broad shouldered. UPDATE: Previous augmentics appear to have been removed, unknown surgeon as well as date.

Hired as an escort pilot for the IMG after helping a convoy carrying niobium fend off a corsair attack with a stolen startracker.
Rose through the ranks until he became an escort commander, hospitalised after a 2 hour fight/chase with a corsair ace.
Upon his release he joined the TG, again he rose through the ranks until he became second-in-command. It was around this time that he found and had restored a britonian battleship hulk, this became his flag-ship - the Nadesico.
Upon the collapse of the TG he joined the IND, along with the entire crew of the Nadesico. Has been seen escorting IND traders, running high-risk trade routes and launching assaults against the corsairs and nomads.
The nadesico was last seen escorting the IND trader 'nightwish', there has been no reported sightings of either vessel for sometime now.
Joined the RM. After a short and extremely active career went AWOL, Leaving his cruiser the 'Plunderer' and it's crew to sit in dock for several months until the ship was decommissioned and scrapped.
Resurfaced on planet Manhattan in New York. No clues as to location since leaving the RM.

Clothing is usually in clean but scuffed and scorched black except for the pristine green scarf tied around his right elbow. Pockets abound on the reinforced garments, and rivets visible on the outside of the jacket and the knees of his trousers suggest armor plates within. The trousers are tucked into boots. No firearm is openly displayed, but careful inspection reveals a slight bulge under his jacket that could be a concealed weapon (or a caramine pouch, or a library book). Hair is clipped short, and beard is shaved regularly. No cardamine vaporiser is visible under his chin. Of course, he wears other clothes when flying isn't on his mind.
Carl's voice is a rough bass suggestive of too much shouting - a surprise, given his generally affable demeanor. He moves deliberately and gracefully; his carriage gives the impression of a taller and more broad-shouldered man.
