To whom it may concern,
My name is Devon Steele, CEO of Steele Industries, subsidiary company under Interspace Commerce.
It's been quite some time since I had contacted the Republic, last time was due to the Omicron Lost Project, which unfortunately ended in a bad way. Although today I'm here on a more...personal matter, rather than fully corporate.
My request mainly involves your Sabah Station, in orbit around planet Yuma. While the shipyard is obviously large enough to service battleships, I was wondering just how large of a battleship it could service. And if the Republic was willing to service a particularly large vessel, specifically a Nephilim class Dreadnought.
Any price you might have will of course be paid, and this is more of a..corporate contract with Steele Industries, so you need not worry of any legal boundaries or diplomatic repercussions. You are your own nation, no?
I thank you beforehand and wait for your quick reply, have a pleasant evening.
It's been quite some time since that mess in Lost. Although it was an unfortunate end to the efforts there, as a small positive the Republic faced no "diplomatic repercussions", which can be a change these days.
As for Sabah, due to the efforts of some of our newly affirmed friends there is a fairly new hangar and dry-dock fully functional on the shipyard. This is of a suitable size to 'service' your ship, although knowing precisely what you mean would be appreciated. We cannot afford to have you occupying the shipyard for any long-term period, with our own fleet requiring extensive work.

Commander Anders,
I've never had the pleasure of your acquaintance, although I have done business with your brother I believe, Minister Liam Anders? Exceptional at business sense as well as its drama, you seem to be on par even as a military man, I applaud you.
But back to the matter at hand, while I don't know the exact techno-babble of the specifics required, I'm told it's something relatively small for a ship of its size but also crucial, several systems haven't been completely built, there are some bulkheads that need to be refurbished and not all weapons were completely mounted as well as the ship hangars needing a few tweaks on the electronic side of things.
I have attached a complete list of refits, repairs and rearming that is required and has been forwarded to me by our relevant department. Although they can only guess at the efficiency and capacity of your shipyard, they tell me it will not take more than a week even under the worst conditions possible.
I hope that is satisfactory to the Colonial Military and that we can do business, Steele Industries will of course pay for any and all relevant parts and electronics, or anything else that is required for the service and refit effort.
I bid you a pleasant day Commander, thank you for the quick reply.
The Minister and I get on well enough these days to talk to each other more than just after the baklava has been finished off at the family Pascha celebrations. That being said, I do seem to have received several transmissions that could easily be answered by the Government.
Even then, although the Republic has changed from its... older administration the Military is still kept apprised of these sorts of endeavours, especially when they (directly) involve the Intelligence Service.
As for your request, a simple one-time service should be well within our capabilities. I will forward your list to Colonial Defence Industries, who operate the Shipyard and bring you a price for the materials, their delivery and the time required. If we in the future require the services of your class of ship in some way, I am sure you would keep this cooperation in mind.

Commander,
I'm pleased to hear the Republic's reply, I've been looking for a shipyard and group capable enough for a while, why I didn't think of yourselves first, I have no idea. But of course I could return the favor in the future if I am able to at the time, I always pay my debts.
I'll be waiting for that price, once sent I'll have the money transferred and the ship, named Freeport 44 will be en route afterwards immediately.
Of course, I need not mention that I would rather the Colonial Military and anyone involved keep this to themselves, needless to say a man in my...position, has an abundance of enemies.
Our people on Sabah have compiled a list of materials that they'll require, and along with delivery (which we can handle ourselves) and the use of the Shipyard for the expected week should come to a total of 250 million credits. They assure me that your company, as a subsidiary of Interspace, can cope with such a fee.
When you are able to move the Freeport to Coronado, please do so. We'll be able to see you coming, and I've already given orders for the Triton and Orion not to fire upon it as you approach. It sounds as if there are enough holes for us to patch as is.

Commander,
I've sent word to 44, they''ll be there shortly and I would be too sure of it's holes Commander, it doesn't have any holes that affect its combat capability, nevertheless thank you for double-checking security.
Oh and, if any other troubles or unforeseen maintenance problems, 44's Captain, Alex Fawkes will negotiate any additional upgrades on behalf of Steele Industries, if it fits in your time table of course, and will be paid accordingly.
Your payment has been wired to your accounts, have a nice day Commander. Please inform me if anything major comes up.
We have received your Captain Fawkes and the Freeport, and although it was a rather tight fit, mooring was successful. Work has been started on the hull, the rest of the required supplies are being Moved in the next while.
I'll likely have a word with him personally some time over the week.
Captain Fawkes may have already informed you - although I am unsure given that he kept himself to the ship for the most part - but CDI have sent over the final report. All work on the Freeport has been completed, it should have fully operational biodomes, vitals, outer hull and weaponry. The clearance for Colonial space in Coronado shall remain in place, as I doubt we will have any trouble with it.
On an even more pleasant note, it is good to see that Sabah can cope with ships of this size. I have also been informed that some of the materials used for your biodomes may have a surprising other use.

Commander,
Yes I have indeed been informed by Captain Fawkes that the repairs are complete, especially the Biodomes, seems the growth rate will allow for complete independence within the month. And I thank you for the continued clearance, I'm sure Captain Fawkes will enjoy it as well, not many places to go with that thing other than deep space.
And as for the other uses you mentioned, I'm glad the Republic got something other than money out of this. I look forward to doing business again Commander, until then, have a pleasant evening.
