If people RP'd properly it wouldn't be as profitable... at least not in Chugoku. There is no good reason for a trader to go through that shortcut, either RP or OORP (oh hai there phantoms OH GOD).

For those unsure of why this is, the jump hole leads from nice cozy New Berlin into a section of Sigma-13 infested by a variety of unlawfuls and the Wild, not to mention Phantoms (*shivers*), and from there it is a jumphole into the home-system of a terrorist faction, who realistically should kill you on sight so you can't tell the KNF where it is. After spending far too much time in that system, you will come too a jumphole to New Tokyo; specifically, a dust cloud absolutely covered in a variety of terrorists who don't want you to know about that jump hole.

Any trader even knowing about that is more than a little OORP, and actually being suicidal enough to try it without escort (also somewhat OORP, who is dumb enough to take a job flying against Phantoms when there's a trade lane 15k away...) is majorly OORP for any trader; if they have that much courage/foolhardiness they should be flying a fighter, not a transport...

That, and what kind of idiot expects someone taking that route to come out alive? Realistically no one would employ you to do such a thing, it's practically throwing money in a fire...

especially not LPI! >> http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8910

That's another useful link, traders should be tagged with a company or no tag at all, a little part of me dies every time I see a power-trader tagged LPI...

I followed Sov's link to DBoy..it's so good I'm posting it again!

here y'all go! DBoy.. you're a genius! (plenty of those around here!)

Now, a lot of people on the forums start requesting to get their tags fixed because they messed up on their rep sheet. Well sorry to say guys but it's not the admins job to fix your tag, you have to do it yourself. Here are a couple useful tips to help get you going.

-----------------------

1. Failing missions is a great and the safest way to lose a tag. It will bring down the reputation of that one faction and not touch the others like killing NPCs would. How to do it? Well.

- Find a base that hands out missions for that faction.
- Take the mission
- Hit F6 and then abort mission
- Repeat

Once you have run out of missions on that base, Hit F1, Select New Character, and then log back in. You should have a new handful of missions afterwards. Continue doing that method until the reputation of the faction is as low as you want.

-----------------------

2. Bribing is something that can help in a lot of ways, but then screw you up in others. Bribes will allow you to get a quick boost on the faction you're trying to gain a tag with, but when doing this make sure you know what factions will be effected. It also helps in getting your guard reputation up with factions that don't give out missions.

-----------------------

3. Shooting NPCs... In my opinion it's not really the smartest move, but can be required in order to get your reputation moving how you want it. Example, you want to be an Outcast? Then shoot Corsairs and Bounty Hunters. Liberty Navy Pilot? Shoot Xenos and Rogues, ect. Though, when using this method make sure you know what factions are going to be effected. By shooting just a few NPCs can turn your entire reputation board red or give you a tag you don't want. And that's not fun to try and fix.

-----------------------

Now, a warning. Keep your reputation board in roleplay! What would you say if you were a Liberty Navy pilot, and a Xenos comes in to attack you but only to see that the NPCs aren't shooting the Xenos? Unfair isn't it? That's out of RP and should be fixed as soon as possible. So if you're a Bretonian pilot, make sure you're hostile to Kusari. Corsair? Make sure your hostile to the Outcasts, Ect ect. Make yourself a good example to other players to keep the game fair.

Another tutorial by DBoy... Enjoy!

I do trade runs to support my "habit" of exploring the various systems. I'm always seeking out new bases and planets to land on. This has given me a great many options of where to go to jump off on new exploration routes and make a handful of credits while doing so.

I've been to over 90 ports and have visited just under half the systems, by my rough guess, I ply the spacelanes with my Trader ID.

Im just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe.

While most have offered RP advice, I have some practical advice. ;)

After you F2, aka Go To a waypoint, when you get around 2k from the Jump Hole or Jump gate, switch to Free Flight and cruiser right into the JH or the mouth of the JG, then hit Dock.

This allows you to save at least 20 seconds so there is no annoying docking sequence.

Same thing with crash-docking on planets. Cruise up to the Mooring Fixture and hit F3.

Be careful, however, when using this docking method with stations and planets, FL has a bug that can cause it to crash to desktop when you quick dock with either of these two dockable types of location.

On another point people who slow dock knowing that quick dock is available, should be shot on sight. But that's just my opinion.

You are 100% correct on this point. It happened to me the other day. I flew from Pl.New London to Pl. Denver, speed docked on the mooring fixture and crashed to my desktop. I had to reboot and was back on New London with some of my perishables lost. It doesn't happen a lot (this was my first sys. crash), but it is a point worth noting.

You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you.
You blame me for my silence, say Its time I changed and grew.
But the war's still going on dear, and theres no end that I know...
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna be free.
