Why not? its not like Shepard and Trent. Shepard is mostly on the ground and Trent is mostly in space. Reapers and Sirius fleets can fight in space.

Nomads are a lot like Reapers, mind control mumbo jumbo and they want to kill Humanity.

Well you /could/ but the lack of specific statistics on speed and the power of ship-born weapons complicates it.

However, given freelancer weapons tend to be "Within Visual Range" weapons, the mass effect ships would completely obliterate any freelancer ships.

Edit: Also, Trent is just a for hire fool with a ship. Eclipse, Blood pack and that other merc group have hundreds of them. Shepard is a career military man. Biiiiigggg difference.

All Trent had to do was shoot that nomad laser thing. Shepard had to fight a crap load of Reaper forces and had to give his life to save the galaxy and had a very hard choice to make. what choice to trent have to make? shoot the artifact laser? Shepard needed to make a choice in which he died in order to save the galaxy. also the reapers dont want just kill the humans like the nomads. they want to harvest them and their tech into making more reapers. The nomads plainly hate the humans and want them gone.
