how do repair ships work?

a bomber however can make a run and leave the capital ships weaponfire range to restock bats/ bots maybe 3k from the warship.

I understand and agree with you but, some call this shield running and you may have to be much further away to lose a warship so it does not shoot your repair ship down and restock itself.

Another reason cruise rules should get reviewed. That being said I have one anyway to top off allies before or after battle.

I actually agree with this..

repair ships are heavily under-used.

Bombers can't hit a repair ship since it's more agile and smaller target than GBs... if they do... they still need two SN hits to down shields... and it can regen....(4000 bats/bots).

Fighters take ages to down the shield... so you need at least 3 on it....

Bring a repair ship to any 2vs2 battle and you won... simple as that....

In big battles most people ignore the repair ship in the first part of the fight... which is a bit mistake... even if all focus on it.. it still takes ages to kill... in the meantime all enemies can pick the easiest targets.

or you get flamed for disrupting a perfectly balanced dogfight. - by our RP standards, repairing would not be inRP anyway. - so many people have allready mentioned that a ship "cannot repair instantly" - so a damaged battleship refilling bats/bots to get to 100/100% again .... well, is it within roleplay? - and if it is.... why is it not inRP to land and do the same?

thats just critizism concerning the use of these ships. i know i just designed another one of them, - but thats still up to discuss how much instant repairs from a repair ship are within roleplay when docking and repairing is not.

But it can't really be considered the same as docking in the middle of a fight..

In this new age of technology etc.. why wouldn't repair robots be a valid form of repairing your ship in the midst of a battle? Since the game itself doesn't have automatic repair robots, it could be conceivable that a 'robot' (or even a human pilot) could pilot a repair ship to assist its owners, whatever ship they may be in. Especially in battles involving clan members, that have access to funds and technology to utilize this asset..

Whereas looking at actually docking on a planet or a station, this would take much more time in reality than would be practical in a fight. Taking the time to dock might just unbalance the fight in favour of your enemy, and would not really be a feasible option..

just make the gun do "negative" damage or something, make the shots slow so then its more difficult to heal fighters so matches with them don't become uneven, then the primary use for them is healing larger ships. make the gun do the negative damage or whatever necessary so it doesn't just uber heal everything.
