Start shooting and then make your fire shoot through the HUD.

Not really. You lose your turn speed and your first shot. Some of us prefer to aim before starting to shoot.

This might be a solution. I personally does not use the hudshift plugun now just because of the edge shots.

EDIT: It does make the panels transparent, which is very nice, but they still intercept every click.
