That is one of the closest things you get RP wise. Another thing: why are WoW RP servers populated despite being old? Don't tell me you consider all those expansions new games.
I dont really think the original Freelancer game had so many fans as Warcraft...
And another thing, where do people buy Freelancer nowadays?...

I will say it again... RP
Name me any other place on the web where you get sci-fi RP, that is not uterly dead.
Old things get old because they are replaced, that is only reason. So far I know of no replacement.

Yes, more new players would be great, as i am sure everyone would like that
The problem is when new people start to play, it's not very long before they encounter the " lolwuts " these idiots do not seem to understand that asking traders for silly amounts of credits ( you know who you are ) the usual 10 million or die bunch, and that's if your lucky, as some ask for upto 50 million or more, if your mining and have ore in space, or there's a few transports
They do not understand that it is not about getting lots of cash when being a pirate, but it is about having lots of fun with some good Rp
Also, there's the kids / or people with some personal or mental health issues - that go around killing players for no reason, with no Rp - over and over again
So, with all that said, it is not a suprise that new players are frightened away and leave after a short period of time, some within hours or days, even people that have been playing for a while get sick of it all, and have had enough, or the server would be full most of the time
I think that there is only a small bunch of idiots that are destroying the game and server, it will not take long before less and less people are still playing - then no more disco or server
This is all without even talking about the usual group of hackers, who have been banned repeatedly, and return to carry on doing the same thing
As it seems to take a while sometimes before they do get those chars banned and deleted, and then they threaten to do denial of service attacks on the server, and get around the anti-cheat and IP bans
I am sure the Admins have a lot of information about who these people are, where and in which country they live
Is it not about time something was done to put a stop to all this? ( just my opinion )
Here's an idea - maybe contact the appropriate authorities, and start to take legal action against them, as was done when i was an admin on a different game, those idiots getting a large fine and/or prison time, and not being allowed any internet access for a few years - a big slap of real life for them
Increasing the server population is a good thing for 50 new players we get, 45 maybe non serious lolwuts that dont last a month but those remaining 5 increase the discovery population so its grows.
Whatever lolwuts come our way can be dealt with quite easily thru sanctions thus sifting the crap from the gold.
Legal action against malevolent players is a bit far fetched I think for many reasons not only because it would be near impossible, also the effort and money required outweigh any potential benefits gained from castrating said members in the courts you would also bankrupt a gaming forum in an hour with legal bills / lawyer costs.
To deal with such hackers and attackers is just a matter of competency on the part of the Admin Team to install safe guards and software to prevent further hacking via exposed loopholes.
Im sure the admin team are already on the case in relation to that, its just a matter of being patient and keeping the faith

For every 5 new players we get 6 old leaveing... and not because of 50 new lolwuts.
You will be surprised how many so-called lolwuts are very experienced players here. One thing admins failed at for certain is upholding rule 0.0...
EDIT: Huh? Who removed it from rules section and when?
EDIT2: It used to be something like "Be excelent to each other", never knew it got removed. Quite ironic, because it's probably bigest problem now...

Well thats very hard to do, what with the advent of skype chat rooms no one knows what anyone is saying anymore. Rumours can spread quickly on skype fueling on-slaughts in forum, which are detrimental to player moral.
As we all know there are many a$$holes in disco whose actions are negatively intent on causing disruption whether it be the +1r's / other sheep, hackers, people on power trips etc etc.

I can delete all my ships, but that will not motivate other players to trade/mine more. Unlike wipe.
And indeed, 0.0 is important. It asks people to have some common sense.
People BEFORE EVERY UPDATE there is a slum of activity. Then the update comes and we have solid activity for a year. Which should be a dev team thought process if their aim is to get activity verses quality.
