If you're talking about what I think you are - the camera moving in the opposite direction of the ship - it was intended as a feature to make turret steering require a bit more skill.

Oh god.... messing something up so that people would ignore the irritation and get more 'skilled' ....

that's not a good way to do it.... imo at least.
