Use of Console Messages?

My feeling is official factions will capture a decent amount of people this way.

When a player comes on the server, he/she may likely assume that the factions are not neccessarily open to new members, and may not know that pursuing that option is in fact encouraged.

Anyway, need an Admin's input please.

I have no problems with those assumptions being made, at least not regarding my own clan. If you haven't fully informed yourself about LH before requesting to join, you are in for a rude awakening. So for once I am being completely selfish here. This won't help me or my clan, and I don't want it.

At least your honesty is refreshing. Maybe just a more effective pull-in to get people on the forums then. Perhaps a little bribe? Maybe only half a million credits or something per account, but that's a lot of hours saved, and will thus probably encourage people to join the forums. Maybe give them a quiz or something to make sure they actually read stuff (including, but PLEASE not limited to, the rules), and uber-ban them if they try to cheat it (get reward twice).

I agree with Xoria. The Lane Hackers is not a newbie clan... So don't advertise all factions.

I still think there should be more details about the forums. If we could get more people to register, perhaps they'll see the light (of proper RP:P)

I agree, But I think like they put a charge on the Creating Systems.
They should put a price on this as well.
Say like 300m For Each Factions Message
Or like 80m Per Word.

Paying money to advertise your faction...that is rp, and sounds good to me.

My only grievance is that more messages make it hard to get a good screenie. With console messages and player join, player die, and player left messages appearing, a good screenshot takes a lot of patience or clone painting...which requires lots more patience. However, it isn't that often I try for screenies with no hud elements so I say advertising this for clans can be good.

Or alternatively do what one of you suggested, add in a console message something like "To learn more about disco's factions and rp stories visit the forums." or "Wanna join a clan? Many clans are looking for you! visit the forums and read our guide to choosing a clan then choose a clan that is right for you!"

that is just my two cents, but still being new here that is about all my opinions are worth. :)

Maybe instead of messages to join factions, just one single message going out over again suggesting to come here and join one? We do kinda have quite a few console messages going through at the moment, and they do disrupt RP at times.

I dunno, that's me. The idea itself is good though!

I fail to see a single reason why to do that only for lawful factions, such as SA, LSF, LPI, RM, KNF and QCO.
I mean, why are they special?
And by the way, I don't know if you people are aware, but in Liberty space, there is like 3x more lawfuls then unlawfuls.
Next step would be "Join TBH or RoS" etc etc.
Why would some factions have a special treatment?

Anyway, agreed with Dboy, just tell them to come here and join whoever they like.
