The carrier bay is where you can put a Docking Module, so other plays can dock on your ship. They use up 300 cargo though.
The equipment type 1 slot is for jump drive equipment.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT I SAID, IT MATTERS WHAT I MEANT!!!!
I see, I'm not keen on using up 300 cargo space as I use the ship for trading, but I'll definately experiment with it when I buy a liner.
Does the jump drive use cargo space? How do you use the jump drive, Via a console command? Where does one buy these things, I haven't seen anything to put in these slots an any base I've docked on today, been checking.
The jump drives use up cargo, anywhere from 900 to 1,200. To use them you need fuel in your cargo (Mox or H-Fuel works) then you can type /charge. It will then start to charge and when it's done you type /jump. You need to use a Hyperspace Survey Module to get a code (say you do a scan in New York, you will then get a code to use when you charge the jump drive, that will make you jump to where you did the scan) Without a Hyperspace Survey Module you can't jump to a set spot, you will do a "blind jump" that jumps you to....anywhere...it's totally random for blind jumps.
The biggest jump drive can take ships with it somewhere. Any ship that is close enough will be jumped with you.
Never used a Hyperspace Survey Module, but I think to scan you need fuel and you type /scan. But again, never used one before so I don't know :/
Docking Modules cost around 100 million, I am not to sure about jump drives...I have seen the smaller ones go for 200 million and the big ones go for like 700 million.
(Anyone that knows more about this then me, feel free to correct me if I got something wrong or missed anything)
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT I SAID, IT MATTERS WHAT I MEANT!!!!
Be advised: unless it has been changed in .87, jump drives require a ship with a large powercore to operate it, usually a Battleship. A train won't be able to use it.
I'm not planning on using any of it on the train, just noticed the new hard points. Would really like to try on a Liner. When I have the funds in a couple days I do some reading.
