The idea is based mainly off of Eve, but it only came to me as i was digging through the files and found the previous systems that are no longer.
The idea is about hidden systems.
I have thought of how it could be done, Jump holes through some systems to them, controlled by the server to either show them or not. Like currently for example there is Quebec. Empty system, but has a jump hole to minnesota. Yet it cannot be found in server as its been hidden or turned off.
Anyways I thought of how it could be found by players. I am not sure if its possible, but, it would start by a system message or console, only given to people who enter a certain system or other. That would direct you to a station where you would talk to an Information giving npc, that would go to another station, which then would go to the jump hole or maybe even longer to get it on the map.
It would increase RP in groups, probably get things a little more active in them. Plus when the stations are turned back on, it would be great for Official factions to set up bases. Of course you can still go there via Jump drive, so it wouldn't be completely a loss. Yet, the only problem with the jump drive is the codes, and the fact that if there is a station, that means all they have to do is dock a ship that can jump, in the station in that system and make it way easier to get in. So, maybe an edition to the player stations could be a Space Alignment Facility. Which would get the codes for the system, and all hyperspace drives would not work there. The system would have maybe 10 or 20 connections over all, but only 1 will be active daily.

I was also thinking, if it would be possible to include maybe a "Capture system" deal, like there would be a station they would need to destroy to get control, (then it would respawn with the name of the Group who did it. It would give cash to a station that is owned by the group. But, I'm not mainly for this one. It would be limited to the systems that are hidden.
Any ways, I would like either an answer if it can be done the way I have gone about explaining it, because I know there are limits to what you guys can do. Or feedback. Thanks for reading.

There have been discussions about this already...
There are instances where some NPC bases could be seen as "captured" if the Official Factions running both parties involved in the capture agree to it, and it fits along an RP storyline (see LNS Capture of Freeport 4 in Magellan as example), but as for groups just attacking and "owning" planets and other stations at will...this will probably not be implemented, at least not at this time.

Was that directed to the hidden systems? I would assume it was, but, even if there has been a discussion once, the more people who repeat the post, (in terms) the more likely they will consider it, unless, they said they arn't going to, (link for any other posts or any thing towards the "same" idea would be nice.) And yes I search for things my self, yet obviously my search terms are not either good for finding it, or, its older than heck.
and, Ah, well I'm not much directed towards it, even though that would help make more back stories to how a faction has gotten up to say war, or expanding territory. Oh well, thanks for the response!
I think it might be doable, there's a bit of a technical thing to get around concerning the static connections of the hard coded FL map, but I know at the very least FLhook gets around it because our /restart commands and jump drives aren't chained to the map. The issue, however, was that we already had too many systems in Disco and a diluted population when this was taken into serious consideration. There's also a need to ensure that there's no method this can be used to shorten trade routes if any of these systems gain entrances/exits to more then one different system which can cause most of this to be outside and far away from house. Then (after seeing how little guard systems are used) there needs to be a way to give these new systems longevity otherwise if they only have a one-off "oh that's pretty" moment then such a system will find the axe soon. Disco had plenty of these that weren't necessarily hidden, just incomplete. They got no attention until something got put into it (and in many cases the system moved to another dot on the hard code map).

Ah now its more of a back in the head, idea. or, scratched.

I see. Well, I was thinking, The jump holes would be set available by the admins, choosing which one would open where. But these systems would only be connected by One jump hole per day and at max of maybe 10 or 20 connections (all over the map) No other connections and etc. And any ship in that system that is not docked with a player base would at the time of the "Ion storm" would be sent back to the last base they were on.

Hmm... I know resources are a big thing, and i think, the fields can be turned off and on, i assume. So, I'm thinking, have a field or two, some planets, no stations, no Npcs maybe a gasfield, and ocassionally have some special thing show up like a meteor, or, a new alien race (Could be evil, Could be Good), etc.. so that, if a faction does set up a station they could potentially "Claim the space" and if, say, for example, Liberty sets up a Player Station in one of them, and Rheinland some how gets in there. Heck they could RP a battle to claim it themselves. It won't be a very active system for wars and battles, but, i know factions who have a base there or even players would def need to get in and out. Plus i am sure a faction would do it since its "Away" from most of the wars, where they can get work done on building up their fleet and etc. That is why i also said some how develop an expansion to the player base for a System Jump Cord thing so any ship that needs to get in could. Yet, i know I'm only one voice so, i can't expect anything like this any time soon.
