Claes had some internal misgivings about the drink, not sure if she wanted something so strong however didnt want to disapoint and made no expression to show she was displeased. "Si.. where my men are will be fine" she said nodding in their direction.
The marines stood upright as Ms Horner returned followed by their commandante. Claes took a seat and looked out at the strange secluded system, almost completely at peace, you could forget a lot of bad things were happening in the galaxy just by sitting and staring at the illusive nebula and the abundant planets.
Steeling herself from the view Claes faced Carol, a little bit more of a serious tone coming across that perhaps was needed, though she soothed it over by smiling taking a drink. "So.. to what do we owe the pleasure of this invitation?" she asked as the liquid heated her throat and stomach, before doubling back and feeling like a fire had started at the back of her throat, almost spitting the remains into Carols face.
"Cazzo! ..what is this? its great!" she took another delighted sip being amazed by the strange flurry of sensations it was assaulting her with.
"Like I said, just whiskey and some pepper juice, it seems you like it." She takes a sip of her own drink while she glances out the window at a passing ship.
"Right, down to business. Most of the reason you're here is to help build bonds between our two groups. Beyond that, we'd like to set up a regular supply run for your group, we're Junkers, so we can get you pretty much anything you want." She looks back at Claes, holding her gaze. "Just name it.
Claes continued to drink whilst listening to the proposal, watching Carol closely. "You want us to run supplys for you?" she asked incredulously with a grin, "Based on the size of our respective transport inventory isnt that a little backwards.. Or you mean us escorting your boys on the runs?" Claes said finishing and taking another sip of her drink, giving her time to finish thinking of what it was she wanted.
"Do your men have access to the yard facilities in Puerto Rico?" Claes asked double checking.
"Sorry, didn't make myself very clear. We'd be the ones running supplies, and if any of your pilots were available, we'd appreciate them flying escort for us. She takes another sip of her drink. "Yeah, we have access to the yards in Puerto Rico, there something you want there?"
Claes nodded in understanding taking a gulp of her drink, "Si, we need La Fenice D'oro back in action as soon as possible for reasons Im not at liberty to discus, however right now our ship is moored to a dry dock in Puerto Rico awaiting upgrades to its scanner drives, our ship hasnt had the chance to return to malta for quite some time, and so naturally it is now technologically inferior in this regard to the many hostile ships we are likely to encounter. technology moves so fast these days, dont you agree?" Claes asked finishing her Firebrand and placing the cup down, taking a loud gasp as it smouldered at the back of her throat before continuing.
"We would also offer any assistance to your people regardless of any help you could provide us on that subject, we own Junkers an awful lot afterall, though it is also in our best interests as a small thumbnail faction to keep allies closely guarded, as this offers us additional protection also. " Claes stated leaning forwards into the table, "We currently have enough to purchase one of these state of the art scanner systems, and my chief engineer is confident he knows how to install it efficiently.... however" she said leaning back. "we've yet to be able to speak with the Junkers Congress regarding this matter, they granted us permission to dock at their shipyard, meaning we dont have to return home to do so. however they seem to have forgotten all about us*she shruggs*and no matter which of them I speak to none seem to know whats going on, so.. if theres anything you could help in this regard?" Claes paused, leaving the question open.
"So you want something that would be standard on a dreadnought for a scanner, or are you looking more for Hacker tech for that?" She finishes her own drink. "If the former is the case then we can get you one of those pretty easily, the latter may take a bit more time and effort, though we do have some contacts in their organization."
"I don't mean to speak ill of the Congress, but they don't always seem to know what they're doing. In regards to the ship repairs you need, I assume you need armor plating and the like, or is the Congress already taking care of that?" She leans back slightly, obviously starting to relax a bit.
"No, the Armour plating is fine, we have as powerful armour as the chassis can take.. in regard to the scanner, we are indeed looking for the most powerful scanner available to us in the shortest time possible, we heard it was in the areas of 250 million sirius credits, brand new, that is.. We have yet to see this technology readily available on the black market since it is so new."
She paused for a second, "I wasnt aware that the Hackers used different scanner systems than the rest of us, though i can see it would make more sense for that group of technogeeks"
"Yeah, the Hackers have their own sensor systems, but I hear the system they use is basically comparable to the newer high end stuff." She pauses for a moment, clearly deep in thought. "My people should be able to scrounge up something in that price range for you without too much difficulty. Beyond a sensor suite, is there anything else your ship needs? I assume you guys have a pretty steady line of supply, but is there anything else you need a bit of help getting your hands on?"
Claes shook her head and looked around for a waitress or waiter to take a new drinks order, though her mind was starting to feel more free already. "the scanner is the last piece of the puzzle for the Fenice.. hm.." she halted her sentence with a thought. "its not a critical update, but the hangar on our vessel does not have magnetic locking systems commonly seen on all carriers. You see our ship is for the moment, unique.. a custom build and so at the time this upgrade could not be put into place before leaving home space... If you could install these upgrades to the hangar deck it would enable us to hold at least one or two larger vessels for extended periods." Claes said taking a breath and waving her hand in a general matter-of-fact manner
"Power is no object due to the core singularity which powers most stock Storta hull still easily fufilling any and all energy needs fenice can generate."
"I'll have my people get to work on that immediately. Is there anything you or any of your people require? On a more personal level that is." A wry grin crosses her face as she contemplates something. "As I said, my people can get anything."
