Gallic storyline correction is the one thing which is tempting me to re-enter Disco.

What we need here is to create some sort of warzone environment within Gallia proper - it's too stable right now; not enough pirates/hostile paramilitaries to necessitate the might of the GRN to go there - the only current activity comes through traders.


You know what? I'm going to work towards correcting that problem m'damn self instead of moaning about it in the standardized community fashion (no offense). Brb two weeks...

Edit: I urge others to create Gallic chars and fly there - believe it or not it is entirely possible to have fun, meaningful encounters out there, and considering the enormous trade wealth running around some pirates would be desirable.

I've been trying to RP a civilian in Gallia a few days ago and except some "Bonjour!" Vaches and silent traders with sirian ships, there was nothing! As far as I know there are some nice trade routes with good income in Gallia but it looks that people are not very interested in that. Right now, Gallia is a place where you can get a lot of money and relax while doing it. Hell... I was watching movies and flying my Pachy when I still had it.

What I think could bring more activity to Gallia would be an event like the "Dublin Gold Rush" a few months ago. Make some incredible mining points for a limited time and you'll see everything, from miners and traders to pirates bounty hunters and police.

Systems are already much much smaller than almost all other house systems.
Gallia has a bit more systems than other houses but traversing two systems can be done in the same time you can get through one Sirian house system.
Also, with the 4.87 redesign there are actual choke points in contrast to the 4.86 grid layout.

Good trading routes exist. Good mining spots - not that much. The only one I know that can bring meaningful profit has lower than average yield and low capacity.

The problem I see with the size of Gallia is that, in addition to being a very specific and invested trip for anyone NOT starting in Gallia (i.e. Sirian char flying into Galllia), you then have essentially a LOT of places to choose to go for a relatively SMALL percentage of players who are actually found in Gallia at any given time. Essentially TOO MUCH open space. Shrinking the number of systems would at LEAST help concentrate the activity a bit more, which would also increase the likelihood of those chance encounters happening.

Also...increasing the Sell prices of Commodities found OUTSIDE of Gallia would help entice traders to actually go back and forth more, also increasing the likelihood of chance encounters.

Gallic Vessels (GV) are nearly as ugly as Rheinland's
Gallic Commodities (GC) don't really (as Laddie stated) encourage trade

Therefore;
GS + GV + GC = <fun

Nuke it - pretend that, much like actual Terran history, they surrendered.
