Hello there. My name is Robin, and I have a little problem I'm hoping that you could help me with.
I have in my possession a Bergelmir bomber. I wish it was flyable, but it's basically a shell with a dead reactor and a cracked exhaust port. What I would like to do is get it flying again. I heard that a number of your pilots of ex-military and would possibly know the finer details of this bomber.
I already have some plans laid out for what to do with the ship, but I want to see if you're interested first. And I'm sure you have questions for me anyways.
I'm Sarah. Sarah McFarlen, if you're one of those people who cares about last names, and Sparks to almost everyone else. As you might've guessed by the logo, I help out the Widerstand with the engineering side of things from time to time (which to say; whenever I'm more then three-quarters awake, but that's an entirely different point altogether).
We've certainly got the know-how to put one of those birds back together, assuming the hull's not a complete wreck, but I'm curious as to why you'd bring her to us in the first place. No offence intended, but most people would take a damaged ship to a shop instead of a resistance movement. We're not exactly a convenient destination for local ship repair.
Motivations aside, near-to-all of the parts that come through my workshop end up patching holes on our ships, and not at nearly as fast a rate as I'd like. So, while we theoretically could repair your ship, I simply don't have the parts to spare with the pressure our squadrons are under at the moment. That might be changing in the future, but it's all up in the air at the moment.
If you were able to supply the parts; though, I'd be happy to take a look at the ship. It's a Bergelmir, sure, and they're not exactly pretty planes, but you can't leave a man to die on the street just because he's ugly. Reactor could be a bit of a sticky point if you're looking to get it back to military spec, though Ageria's recently bought out some interesting Hall thrusters we could gear up to do the job, if we can convince the weapon surges not to throw magnetic fields all over the pla- Sorry. Bad habit.
Long story short, if you could please let me know what you want to do and supply the parts I'd be happy to have a look at making it happen.

It's great to hear back from you Sarah, or if you prefer, Sparks.
Luckily, the ship was only a few weeks old before I left it in a storage bay, so the hull is in near perfect condition. The biggest problem I have is that most shops that would know the Berg inside and out belong to the Rheinland Military, who I would prefer to not know about this ship still existing.
I would be more than happy to supply the parts. Getting the ship back to Military power wouldn't be necessary. Having it "civilianized" would probably be best since the area I'm in would be a bit suspicious of a full powered Rheinland bomber.
Honestly I'm not the best when it comes to ships' internal equipment, but for a reactor I can supply one from a CTE Bomber. It's smaller than what's normally found in a Bergelmir, so I don't see getting it to strap in being a problem. As for the engine, I can order one from Ageira or the Junkers to be made. Any other small parts that you need for either your own ships or for this one I would be happy to supply.
Alright, if you can source the parts, I should be able to have a look at it without too much difficulty. It's hard to say exactly what I'll need without crawling around inside the thing. The military in Rheinland tends to update lines sporadically, so it would probably be easier to do the repair at Kreuzberg, since they'll be more likely to have the bits and pieces to hand then a base in your corner of the sector.
If you're supplying the reactor though, I should be able to improvise just about anything else we'll need, within reason, if you're able to pick up the bill at the end of it. I've had the Junkers chasing me for parts one too many times this month already. Not exactly a fun experience, so I'd really like to avoid repeating that one.
Actually, now that you mention bringing parts in, there might be something you can help me out with. You see, I need a hundred and six disruptor-type guidance packages for a project we've been working on, but everywhere that sells them here is either corporate or military. I could get hold of older models from the Junkers, sure, but I'd prefer not to shoot myself in the foot, if I can possibly avoid it. Since I'm guessing you're probably marginally less likely to be shot on site by anyone with that sort of access, maybe you could look at getting hold of them instead?
I mean, I'll still look at your ship, regardless, but it would be tremendously helpful if you were able to have a look at that. Feel free to head on to Kreuzberg whenever, just drop me a line before you get in. There's a hangar bay I sort-of rent. Or at least use frequently enough that no-one gets to use it.

Hey Sparks
Kreuzberg isn't a problem, I'll start moving everything there now. I already have the Roc stripped down and the reactor ready to be put into the new ship. I also went ahead and bought a custom engine from the Junkers that will fit.
About the guidance packages, I'm not quite sure what you mean. I'm thinking cruise disruptors, but I'm not sure. Some clarification and I'll get you what you need.
Sounds good. I'm only a stone's throw from the 'berg, so let me know when you get there and I'll head on over. It'll be... Interesting to see what the Junkers have done with that engine. Military ships tend to be pretty precise in their requirements, and Junkers are usually somewhat less so. I'm sure we'll figure it out, regardless.
You're close with the guidance packages. Technically I should be calling them guidance and control packages, but when did technicalities stop anyone? They're part of a disruptor package, and are generally responsible for telling the missile how to manoeuvre to get to where it needs to. The Military's got a new version that automatically calculates projectile mass and acceleration. It's pretty neat, but my access is pretty limited. I mean, it wouldn't have to be the military ones. Anything reasonably up-to-date would be great.
See you soon.

Hey Sparks
Sorry about the wait, I had to pull a few strings within an old company of mine to get one of my ships back. I have the Berg, Roc, and parts loaded up on this Shire, and we're ready to offload on Kreuzberg.
I managed to grab the packages you needed from Oder, I hope Daumann models will work for you.
Thanks for that, I'll head on over. No need to apologize, I mean, you're quicker then most of the Junkers I deal with. Which isn't really saying a lot now that I think about it, but I'm sure you get the general idea. It's not a problem. I'll bring Donnerkind around to help out with the unload. She's an overload-geared Dromedary with a half-octave high pitch on the engine, so she should show up pretty quickly on scanners.
Daumann models'll do wonderfully, just as soon as I can get someone who can read the instructions on the things. Other then that, I'll have a look at that bird for you and let you know if she'll live again soon.
Oh, and it'll be nice to meet you. Of course.

It took me a little longer then I originally thought, but the 'mir's all set to go. I had some problems with the Junker powerplant - looks like it wasn't the first time that particular model had been through the cycle, but we made it work. You're looking at about 1330u/s energy out put, which is workable. She won't ever sing quite like a military bird, but she'll still fly and fight, if you treat her well. Keep an eye on that reactor, though. I might use Junker tech, but that does't mean I like using it. It's just as likely to blow up in your face as it is to keep working. This particular one seems alright, but it's just something to bear in mind.
Obviously Bergelmir's aren't exactly the easier ship to fly, but if you got it this far I'm sure you'll figure it out. Just be aware that since I severed the transmitters that connected this one to military networks, you won't be getting any of the running software upgrades the military keeps rolling out. Still, as long as you don't get into too many brawls with electronic warfare ships, the standard ones should hold out against anything short of military-grade gear jumping in your instruments, at least for the next year or so. Just don't get too close to patrols. They'll probably pick up that it's missing if they look closely, but it was either that or radio your location back to the Kanzler every couple of days.
Other then that, performance is pretty much unchanged from the military model. What we lost in the powercore, we managed to make up in pulling out some of the C&C gear you're not likely to need. I've packed it together in the cargo bay if you want to refit any of it at later date.
Anyway, he's ready for you to pickup from the 'berg whenever you're ready. Let me know how it works out.

Brilliant, thanks a lot Sparks, I'll come pick the ship up now. I wont have to worry about looking like a Military pilot, I don't really plan on staying in Rheinland long. I would prefer the opposite actually, the people in the area of space I live aren't too kind to Rheinlanders.
If there's anything you could use from an old Gateway pilot, or an old IMG pilot, feel free to give me a call. I would be more than happy to help.
