Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today, a rather disturbing event occurred in Cambridge. I decided to hunt for the well know pirate in Bretonia *snip*. Everything was fine until I found him. The lane was cut I started to type my normal "Miller: Halt criminal." Apart from today a strange friend was with him. Actually it was a Corsair Dreadnought... As I came out of the lane immediately I got "baf" then all of his guns fired at my poor cruiser. I reacted and kicked into my usual Turret steering motions and managed to gain some distance on the psychopath (1600 metres). This was the minimum range I can Turret steer at but his raging lasers tore into my hull... It goes on... In the end I ended up in the ice field where I met my death due to his ridonculous actions and lack of RP which lost me a battle. I believe that the said player didn't know much English so I'll let him off. But basic RP is still capable. So. Here is Jillie's guide to Roleplay:

Part 1:

Step 1:
Pick characteristics for your character eg. The captain of my Cruiser is a light hearted joker.

Step 2:

Sort out a few phrases that you can quickly type that goes along with your chosen characteristics. eg. "Miller: Good day old chap!" As you can see this portrays a rather jolly British classic man.

Step 3:
Sort out a few actions your character does eg. "Miller: *Sips tea*" Again it's linked to the British feel.

Step 4:
Enhance your RP by looking at what other players do. Just the small things.

Part 2:

Engaging:

When you are going to engage someone "baf" then shooting isn't the way to go. There has to be a reason to attack the person. Think in your characters perspective and think what would annoy them, make them laugh etc. I've had cases where I have RP'ed for 20 + minutes before any shooting happened. You can get sanctioned for shooting before you RP (It's in the rules, read up). Luckily Im a wonderful person and have decided not to take action against the said player...

IF. You have any questions about how to RP (Roleplay) then please post below.

Oh yeah anyone willing to add to this guide then post below... Or correct me..

Note for the Admins: I didn't want to intrude on the Help and Support section. But if it needs to be there then I'm sorry... *Sniffs*

You know, it's easier to file a sanction report than to type a wall of passive aggressive text :|

Hey.

All that Jillie sad is correct...and it is not good if it happens.

Soo Kudos for you Jillie that you took it like you did.

For the record I saw that Dred for first time.

And I'm not sure how good he speak english, but I do think he knows some of it.

Ah and I would kill to see threads like this when I started to play here.

Unfortunately, in my experience, most players don't listen when you try to explain them the rules. Some times a sanction can be much more 'educative'... It's sad, but true.

Thank you all for your responses. This was not meant to be an "Aggressive wall of text" however I was quite "cheesed off" at the time.

If somebody does decide to break a rule, try not to get angry about it. Try and explain to the, politely that they're breaking a rule and explain to them that they must follow the rules. Don't mention anything about reports though as that could get you sanctioned if it goes wrong. If he still carries on doing what he is doing, and kills you,, leave the game for 30 mins and come back to it. Way up the odds. Is he a new guy? Is he doing this our let of spite? Is he trolling you or is someone that needs a little help in understanding the rules? Based on that, file a report and let the admins deal with it. Don't just file a report because you got angry though.

Apart from that, this is a nice little guide, although I do believe that there are a couple out there already. I'm sure with a bit of help we can turn this guide into something that could be used by all newbies.
