Quote:I'm concerned that , as a leader of this community, a simple well-known fact seems to have slipped your mind: Leaders govern with the consent of the populace.
Again...this is not a democracy. It's a game server. You play at the will of the server administrators and their designated staff. Know your place.
Quote:transports are too easy to kill. this will get dull.
You say this without knowing any of the stats on the new ships, so this is complete assumption and ignorance. This makes the argument much less valid.
Quote:I don't play as much any more, as i find it really tediuous that no-one tries to pirate me, and there is no-one to pirate.
This seems to run contrary to what is said in other threads about how there are so many transports out there power trading now and not enough pirates. So, there's a disconnect in your reality somewhere.
this being a game server doesn't change the fact that if there are no more players, there is no more community to model for.
piracy is just not possible anymore. pob's blocking pirate access, gb spawns, jump drives, cloaks... which faction do you pirate in, maybe i'll join your pirate faction.
transports are easy to kill. if four titans can take down a cruiser, then i cannot see how the supertransports will be any different. and if the ships will still have the firepower, what is the point in the change? to boost their cargo holds? that's a line change. to make them more 'colony shipish' by reducing their armour? also a line change.
but a reclassification undoes thousands of hours of player-driven content, and the authors' of said content are asking why. You seem to be arguing 'because'. "Know your place" is a very pedogogic statement that is hard to justify in the context of player-driven content, but that is your opinion, and I will defend to my last breath your right to voice it.
Sure Piracy is possible. Easy? Perhaps not so much. But certainly possible.

Perhaps, but this also doesn't enshrine "tyranny of the majority" as law.

Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion, but that also doesn't mean your opinion counts for anything unless you're running the show. At some point you have to trust that the guys who actually develop and run this mod actually know what they are doing on some level. There are plenty of avenues for players to provide suggestions, feedback, etc., but that doesn't mean you become the equivalent of an admin/dev in terms of who gets to make the final calls. Player-driven content < Admin/Dev power. Otherwise, ZA would now own all of Sirius and Gallia.

actually, saying "know your place" is pretty much the same as 'stfu' in my book, but I see what you are saying, and accept your apologia.
So I've been away for a bit. I like RPing my Neph as a colony ship, I don't troll with it. I don't "pew" with it. I RP and any day that goes by where I don't fire a shot is a good day. It's my favorite model in the game. So it is a bit displeasing to see it disappearing and being replaced with a model that is such a large change from the existing line.
I've had lots of great ingame RP with my Neph where noone has fired a shot. Even with Nomads, more fun to RP and act defensive then go in guns blazing. I feel like this is being taken away from me to give me a "battle transport" which I don't want to RP with. It's a blow to Zoner RP. Nerf the Neph if you have to, but don't just completely scrap it.

For the upteenth time, everyone can get the ship that would use the Nephilim model back by applying for it in an SRP.

And I'm sure the requirements will be easily met. I'm only just getting back into FL after a short hiatus and would like to play my colony ships. If suddenly I need 5, 10, 20 pages of background forum RP to maintain a ship I have already been RPing in game, that is daunting. I can't just shoot an SRP out of the dark and say, "trust me admins, I won't troll with it." I have extremely little forum RP with Ikaruga (and Destiny_Ascension for that matter, I won't even bother trying to have 2 if I go for the SRP route). All my RP was ingame, so thus if I did go for the SRP, all I would have is character references unless I quickly write a short story.
When will the new ship stats be posted? I think if they were posted soon, it would give everyone a better idea of where the Zoners stand and in this case the sooner there posted the better. This kind of arguing is terrible to see here.

Seconded, as the OP is obviously not going to consider any other feedback valid.

And I DO apologize, because I didn't really mean to imply "STFU." I think knowing your place is more about understanding what your limits are in terms of what you can/can't do, and can/can't have. It's one thing to express displeasure at an Admin/Dev's decision, it's another to think that said Admin/Dev CANNOT make that decision because you or others not in power say so. I guess it's an attitude thing.
I"m ready to drop out of the discussion now, as I think its reached its peak of useful dialogue, but I'd leave with this:
1) I'm not necessarily happy if Devs decided to make this move with no input whatsoever from Official Factions, but I certainly recognize their right to do so.
2) I think it's a positive move in making the Zoners actually fit their role in the mod.
3) I think a very select few should able to SRP for original Leviathan/Persephone BS if the Admins/Devs think it's a good idea to leave that option open.

There can be multiple reasons behind a change. Would you rather we just implemented major ship role shifts like this without telling anyone?

Or you could just chill out about pixel ships and follow the wise words of dusty's grandma: "she says to be roleplay".
