You are asking us to piece together 8 years of Nehiplim and Aquilon lore, within a few days. I have joined the server in late 2011. OSI was funded in early 2009 approved official faction in mid 2009 and I don't have the slightes Idea what transpired before that.
So me and my team tried to piece together what we could, which was - as we knew to only have lore about a single independent contractor to OSI, who flies a Aquilon - was quite easy.
For phoenix: They tried to dig up the Omicroner RP. It appears as though major portions of Omicroner RP has been deleted right after the disbandement of the faction, wich makes it difficult to get links to forum RP-threads about the Omicroners. However, there was quite a war between the 'Sairs and Omicroners at one point in history, and without Capital support, Freeport 9 would surely be a Corsair station or be destroyed.
Long story short: We're working on it. But it may take more time than you'd expected. But the battleships have been around much longer than any of the guys currently active in any of the official zoner factions.
Aquilons nor Nephs have existed for 8 years. The whole carrier has existed since what, 4.86? Neph has been around since then too, but was the Jinkusu in 4.85 and I think 4.84.
8 years is one hell of a number to pull out of your ass.

That was four days ago, and I have received almost nothing. I'm beginning to wonder if there is any lore justification at all. I'm trying to find some reason to advocate for you, but instead of giving me something to work with, you insist on arguing non stop in thread after pointless thread. By doing so, you have utterly destroyed any sympathy I have for the Zoners.
I will encourage you one last time to stop ranting on the forums about it and take mature productive steps that I've already advised you to take. Instead of telling us how removing Zoner caps will destroy your lore, show us. Because, as of this moment, I see no lore to be ruined. And I don't mean the retconned version of lore you are currently working on. I'm talking about past lore that will be irreparably harmed by the removal of these ships. Give the Devs something to consider. Give the Admins something to advocate for. Enough of these rants on the forums. I told you already they were pointless and self defeating.[/color]
I am not a Zoner leader but, http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=107207
I have put quite a bit of effort into writing this story. I took a break from it over the holidays to deal with some RL drama, but I have every intention of continuing.
It references events which I am not sure is considered OSI canon - the whole "Zoner terrorist invisible cruise missile attack" on an SCRA station - or if they decided to retcon that whole story because it was kind of ridiculous.
Either way, my Neph is an integral part of the story. I had planned to incorporate references to the model, and think up how the ship could be retrofitted for war. The Cheat was to manipulate The Commonwealth and other civilian R&D into developing these upgrades.
All of this will be poopcanned if my Neph is turned into a transport, and I am ill inclined to write this story on your schedule to meet the check-in requirements of a SRP. I also don't want the extra scrutiny. There's already enough sankshun anxiety associated with flying a non-merchant Zoner.
But seriously. Garrett, Kaz, Jinx. This is ridiculous. Instead of trying to take everyone's toys away, and making a bunch of people furious in the process, why don't you adjust the lore/mod in such a way that justifies the toys, stimulating activity?
I already brainstormed a plan to do this. It was beautiful. It gave the Zoners something to do with their caps without making the Zoners as a whole into a Sirius-wide empire. It promoted interaction/conflict (=activity) with groups all over Sirius, large and small. And it moved the 'core' of Zoner-dom far away from the Corsair's backyard and into neutral territory.
But it was shot down because it involved the Zoners moving into Cayman, which you guys apparently already had plans for, because you don't want to add any more bases. But surely something else could be done instead.
If you want to add those new ships as new ships, great. But nerfing the Zoners into political obscurity is only going to harm the community. What are we supposed to do the next time the Sairs or SCRA go 'lol we take ur base'? Run to the forum and cry 'Y u no rp your weakness'?
I cant talk for all indie Players - but i am one of them.
looking at the Player faction activity makes me smile each time. there are factions you often see - but even the top active faction - today i see the congressmen - with 22 hrs over the last 30 days - im sorry to say - is nothing. well ive got a few chars - my favorite Trader made nearly 40 hrs the last 30 days.
so its right to see this thread in a public part of the Forum so Indies can say something, too.
after reading this complete thred i still dont get any RP sense removing the ships from zoners. zoners have to be strong - they are diplomats - if your coming in a weak ship trying to get some conflict Partners peaceful again its not impressive. but indies- i mean not official faction Players - will get mad when turning their toys into freighters.
What are Indies doing with the zoner capitals ? Try to find out - theres not much OORP i could see - 90 % of all scanned coordinates are done with zoner caps, 90 % of all killed BS Remains are done by them.
where are all the official factions ? i dont mean only zoners ! are all fights done via Skype ?
if you restrict caps to official factions - why dont you remove them at all ? due to activity of officials
in past it was a hard Thing getting guard id which did allow you to buy a cap ship. but at last you had to work a certain time for the faction you bought the capship from and got used to them.
this mod allows you getting 2 billions within a month (beeing alone) or much faster in Group. then you make a new Char you type restart, buy capship equip and youre done.
now many "officials" at Forum complain about These Indies. These officials better should go online to Keep up the flag of their faction. indie Players who want to join an official faction are forced to apply at Forum, give their Skype, etc etc. if an official Player is on and sees a new indie cap of his faction - its a must to care about him - helping him to become a part of his faction. words like "damm ive no time to show that noob how to fly a capship ..." are not helpful.
i am one who simply likes this game - i do like interacting with Players - i really love discussing with pirates staying alive and reducing the "tax" they want - larger raids with all the chaos inside is great and big fun.
the Indies will find other ways to do what they want - even without zoner caps. i only can suppose political reasons for removing the caps from zoners - but if it is policy - think of the Indies which are about 90 % of the Servers Population - you will troll them with this change.
Ah yes finally - zoner id says: enemies - None. should be thought of - due to all rephacks been made since 4.85
Quote: Jinx has decided. Jinx rules all zoners from beyond the grave, yo.
yes, coin, - personalize the problem - give it a scapegoat - thankfully no one else can ever be the cause of the changes, cause everyone else has been such an model member of the community, upholding the lore and laws of each faction to the letter - untarnished, ever fighting for the best of it all.
there are reasons for it, they have been pointed out many times - but selective perception can be a female dog. mind you - ignorance is bliss.
if blame and insults is all you can do - do not expect any forthcoming - your behaviour is detrimental for whomever you speak for.
are you saying that garrett is misplacing the zoner tears? are you saying that you are willing to enter a process of dialogue with those concerned, rather than an imposition of what you think is best? I apologise for the rather rude approach, but you have been strangely silent on the following questions:
Why now? It has been this way for a long time. Wherein the urgency lies?
why retcon them to transports and not a nerf of stats?
why not an id nerf (powercore drain/bhg style travel restriction) and leave the caps alone (least amount of work)?
Coin can you please stop attacking Jinx and instead focus on helping us convince the devs this is a bad idea? Thanks. @_@
Jinx has said that such dialogues with the OFs were attempted, but they were either silent on the issue or spoke out in favor of cap removal.
OSI (Gytrash aside - not sure if he's still associated with them) probably would prefer the caps go away, so they can shift the focus of the Zoners to be more hospitable towards trading. I.e. removing all possibility that their trading may be disrupted by conflict.
The TAZ (Doc aside) have, from what I've seen, been pretty arrogant when it comes to indies and seem to want the caps all to themselves...
And I don't think anyone from Phoenix has even voiced an opinion on the matter in any of these threads. If they have, I haven't seen it.
I really have to question whether our OFs are looking out for the faction as a whole, as an OF is supposed to, or trying to steer the devs into molding the Zoners to suit their own interests.
First. I don´t need a battleship. But I have all Zoner ships, cause my IMG Guard Ships where red with the new CR, I changed my ships to zoner and hide them disapointed in a corner of the universe.
My RP is, that all my Characters belong to a familie-clan. So i use the Nephilim as a mobile Freeport and home of the people. The Aquilon is the garage^^.
I like the Idea of a medium barge, but the new models don´t look like a home. I loved the habitats that gave the Nephilim the look of a mobile freeport. I will miss them.
I fly a starship across the Universe divide.
And when I reach the other side. I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can.
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again. Or I may simply be a single drop of rain.
But I will remain. And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again.

I can tell you that all three official factions are opposing this change, and also including non officials such as the commonwealth and even ... ZA. None of the opinion and comments posted was really taken through by the devs and work is currently focusing on pushing the lore through so not much reply from the factions at the moment.
